Now I think regardless of the old press release looking ‘new’ and getting some excited again, a more lower key build up is probably best for the UK this year.

It puts less pressure on the act for sure after Olly got the big Strictly reveal. Which, given that and who he was, added to expectation I think.

To me, the slow drip feed style of 2022 with Sam might be best again. For all we know, the song might be currently out there and getting radio airplay - like Space Man was about a month or so prior to the reveal from memory.

Easing the public into the Eurovision entry and making it a song that just happens to be our entry is the best way to me. Otherwise you get people wanting stereotypical ‘Eurovision style’ song.

I hope BBC acknowledges Welly and sends an official offer for Eurovision, this year or some time soon.

Hey, maybe the reveal was supposed to be amongst the Traitors show but once again someone didn't get back to the BBC in time and now they are scrambling to find an alternative? I for one can't wait for another song that wasn't meant for Eurovision but it is all we can get on short notice. But by gum, we'll cope about its chances until the dying embers of the final.

I’m still struggling to see how that Traitors rumours got the legs it did - and people now thinking it was a last minute change of plan because it didn’t happen rather than what it was by the ‘leaker’ - a ruse.

I don’t think a Traitors linked reveal was ever likely. I can kind of see the logic in following the Strictly announcement, but tonally The Traitors and Eurovision don’t gel. Strictly and Eurovision gel better.

I could be totally wrong and the ‘leaker’ was right but I doubt it.

Still looking forward to whoever is our entry though.

Scott Mills said on his Radio 2 breakfast show this morning that he has heard our Eurovision song - and had to be in a locked room to do so - his review? It’s “good”.

I’m filled with confidence….

Well he did play a part in getting Sam on board (whether he ultimately got him to sign on the dotted line I don’t know) so that’s something.

Although he did play a part in selecting Olly I think didn’t he? So a mixed bag really. How very UK… :uk:

Well I’d rather that than the ‘oh my god, we’re sooo going to win’ spiel that was trotted out every year by Ken Bruce during the Electro Velvet/SuRie years.

A more measured response is fine by me. But then again I always seem to be the lone voice on how I feel the undersell kind of promotion is better…

I think he wasn't allowed to give more information on the entry. It's good to know that the entry has been chosen, though.

I wish he could have given us a hint or two so that we fans have something to talk about/discuss.

"Good" is actually fine. I absolutely hated all the "UK can win this year" talks back in the day, especially when Kathrina witness the whole UK Decide fiasco live.

You can be confident about getting a good position in Eurovision but please pick good material first (which BBC failed to do so from 2015 to 2021).

No you're guys are right, and having now heard it, he was speaking in a secretive way. I assumed he was openly talking about it when he said he was locked in a room and it was just good. Context is a good thing.

Maybe it is a sign that it’s brilliant… who knows! But it wouldn’t be pre-season without being down about our (unreleased) entry!

Hmm, well this sort of hints at a reveal of sorts on Tuesday doesn’t it?

Or is it just me reading into things a little too much?

Scott knows nothing... there's a mystery guest arriving in the studio. They have a connection to Scott and a rather large singing competition - but who is it?!

Apparently this is something else and not the Eurovision reveal

It’s gonna be Rylan or Sam Ryder popping in isn’t it. We may get a few more crumbs with their on air chat but other than that, it won’t be anything contest related

Yeah, I thought that may be the case. Joining up dots that aren’t there!

Well I suppose that’s still something. A slow build up to an eventual reveal is fine with me. Doesn’t have to be all guns blazing in terms of a reveal.

Apart from last year, it’s always been a slow build up and I personally dislike it as a fan, if they’re gonna wait til late in the pre-season to announce then more updates should be provided in my view
