Sometimes I know my fire burns low
But as long as you're with me I'll never get cold
'Til day and night, 'til darkness and light
I never worry when you're by my side

Oh, feelings change and seasons fade
But nothing will burn us out
Nothing can stop us now

Out of the embers
You and I are gonna light up the room (Yeah, you and I gonna light up the room)
Out of the embers
There's a fire burning for you (Yeah, there's a fire burning for you)
I feel the heat here
There's still a chance for us
Down herе in the ashes, yeah, thеre's something growing
Out of the embers
You and I are gonna light up the room (Yeah, you and I gonna light)

Light up the room
Light up the room

You and me forever, we're free
We're cool under pressure, and that's all we need
So take my hand, and forget the past
We're in this together, there's no looking back

Oh, feelings change and seasons fade
But nothing will burn us out
Nothing can stop us now

Out of the embers
You and I are gonna light up the room (Yeah, you and I gonna light up the room)
Out of the embers
There's a fire burning for you (Yeah, there's a fire burning for you)
I feel the heat here
There's still a chance for us
Down here in the ashes, yeah, there's something growing
Out of the embers
You and I are gonna light up the room (Yeah, you and I gonna light)

Light up the room

Out of the embers
You and I are gonna light up the room (Yeah, you and I gonna light up the room)
Out of the embers
You and I are gonna light up the room (Yeah, you and I gonna light up the room)

I honestly think this is a good decision. "My Last Breath" was the best British entry since 2009. Still a bottom 5 in the making (he seems to be out of breath talking about his breakfast and THUS, I can't imagine him being on stage). I just hope his upcoming entry is more competitive.

At least, we didn't get "UK, Hun".

I hope this every year, but so far everytime my hopes were crushed, and to be honest I´m not confident this will change this year, we´re still talking about BBC:

Embarrassing, waiting all this time for literally nothing.

Is it wrong that although we're not being represented by The Frock Destroyers, I wish it was The Frock Destroyers. Just to warrant all of the complete melodrama of this thread.

I mean... this whole ass waiting time and drama for it to James. Why not say it was him months ago?? Never the less I'm happy. He deserves his shot at Eurovision and regardless of the song outcome I'm happy hes got it.

Don´t know why, but I´m kinda scared what the BBC definition of "upbeat and positive" looks like.

2011 was about as upbeat as we've got in 'recent' years so i don't think its too shabby. Since we've just had a sea of midtempo drivel.

I'm rather excited with this upbeat & positive track. I don't know where the rumour arrived from, but anyway, hes got several collabs under his belt with people like Armin Van Buuren

All I want from Newman is a song that can really show off his talents as a songwriter and as a vocalist. Be that a dance track or even a ballad. The problem that 'Last Breath' had was that there wasn't anywhere you could really go with it; there was no moments in it where you could show off his vocal skill, no big notes, no stand out moments.

'Last Breath' was a fine song in and of itself. Its not unpleasant to listen to, and it was very radio friendly. But this is a song contest. And we need something that is going to command attention, not politely request it.

I guess it's a fair choice in the end of the day, although not super hyped for it as his 2020 entry was kinda meh and I am not sure this one will be much different but potentially. It's not so much the style of the entry that was the issue (I think that fits him), it was more the song itself that was pretty middle-of-the-road and forgettable.

As long as it's not Frock Destroyers I'm happy, or any other unfunny joke act the BBC could have come up with.

Yeah I'm just concerned about the Beeb's definition of upbeat and positive, but I am encouraged by Newman's previous collaborations that he'll at least understand what the current music trends would class as an upbeat song.

Let's see what we get and how he'll sound performing it (don't f*** up the staging BBC IOTAP )

If Last years staging was anything to go by then I think we could of had a decent stage to work with.

yay, this is great news! James is a very likeable guy and as much as I didn't care for his song in 2020, it was modern and radio-friendly and definitely one of the UK's best entries from the last decade. What I really appreciated was that it sounded authentic to James, not like when they assigned auto-generated songs to an x-factor winner.

I think this is a great way for the UK to begin a new decade, it seems like you're moving in the right direction :)

Now I know why the BBC kept quiet for so long. They were waiting for my birthday to make the announcement

Honestly I am thinking some time next week. Thursday or Friday maybe. If not then it'd have to be the week after. I can't see them leaving it till the day of the deadline.

Or could I?...

In the news article on the Eurovision website, it says he'll unveil the song in March, so I doubt it will be next week unless it's leaked (a little leak for my birthday on Sunday 28th would be fabulous ;) )
