With the super secretive nature of BBC, it's harder to tell. But they'll probably go 1000% for your description if it's a ballad.

Don't stress... the BBC have another 8 months before they make an announcement so during that time I'm sure someone will come up with something bland enough to keep up with the BBC tradition of not giving a shit haha

I was hoping for frock destroyers. With them uk had at least chance for top 10. But I'm glad it was him because better chances for my favorites. But let's not fool ourselves. Keeino will win esc, that's a fact.

Let's see. The song from last year was okay, I liked it in the beginning, but faded the, I won't judge before the song is out!

Now hopefully the song will be something like the Armin Van Buuren/Calvin Harris/Rudimental collabs mentioned in that article and not a middle-of-the-road ballad...

"Even though I love ballads, I didn’t want to sing one this year. I feel everyone wants a party and some fun. So it’s something people can dance to... probably in their kitchen... but at least it’s still dancing. It’s upbeat and positive.” He said this about the song.. :)

Don´t know why, but I´m kinda scared what the BBC definition of "upbeat and positive" looks like.

I can see he deserved another chance the same as everyone else and I don't know the Frock Destroyers from Adam lol but I am disappointed they couldn't find something better tbh, yes I want good results but I also want to like the song, all I can do is hope that his song is better than last years (and preferrably less overrated). :(

Nice one! Even though I didn't like his song last year, but any returning artist from the 2020 edition is welcomed.
I think it's the very least the broadcaster can do especially for those who do internal selection. So well-deserved and hopefully his new song will be good.

I’m not surprised, and I’m happy James will get his chance! Makes sense and seems fair to me.

Let’s just wait for the song now! Last year’s was good, just not a Eurovision winner... upbeat and positive sounds promising.

I’ve had UK Hun stuck in my head all week, it’s fun for what it is, but it would bomb so hard. No issue with drag at Eurovision but it needs to be more Conchita and less Scootch.

If the UK ever does the pure pop approach again it needs to be like recent Steps (which is a tad KEiiNO).
