Why would John Lundvik and Emmelie de Forest write songs for a British NF?

I just found it odd that she never heard of James Newman, despite the fact she follows him on social media.

Maybe she thinks John fallows her and didn't realized its his brother
Is it possible that her "people" operate her social media, and she has basically no clue who she is following?
Though, isn't he famous in the UK? If so, it would seem odd she hasn't heard of him.
Then again, I haven't heard of either of them, so what do I know.

Thats what I find odd, why pretend you dont know James, yet you've just litrally wrote a song with him under BMG and the same labels that produced My Last Breath last year?
Strange how she was acting like she didn't know anything. is she hiding something?
Ether an announcement is due very soon, or she is bound by some kind of Non-Disclosure Agreement, hence why she was pretending that she didnt know james.

if she is representing UK she is for sure under some non-disclosure agreement. So it's still wide open imo..
The BBC are usually super great at keeping things under wraps, not like some broadcasters where it's leaks galore. Last year we were able to piece it together before the announcement and wasn't far wrong iirc. I agree with you that it is odd how she calls James someone else, but idk if it is her it doesn't quite sit right with me that her and her sister then went on to shade the contest right after - even as a deflection tactic.

I dunno, I feel that people are reading a bit too much into things. Even if she is representing the UK this year she frankly might not have been all that aware that Newman did it last year, or she simply didn't remember. I mean, I doubt that Newman was exactly introducing himself as "Eurovision's own James Newman" at any given occasion.
And besides, even if she is doing Eurovision lets address the elephant in the room here, this would be just another gig to her. The fact that she said what she said towards the end of the video is a sign that all the "Oh guys, I'd love to fly the flag for the UK" stuff from last year was just diplomatic fluff to not upset her fans and possibly lose a pay day from even just putting a song forwards for consideration. It wouldn't be because its some kind of life long dream of her's. Because if it was we'd have gotten another answer.
Or hell, maybe I am wrong and the question came so out of left field it bamboozled her so she just had a mental block and just tried to play 5D Tiddlywinks with everyone to make it seem she isn't doing it and doesn't care.
Who knows?! Only time will tell!

yeah true could go either way, hard to tell. agree with Ashley tho about then shading the contest, tho it was more her sister that shade it than Fleur.

To be fair I feel that the shade comes from a place of simply not knowing much about the contest and where it is today musically. I know a lot of people (even many of the fans) scoff at the idea of there being any artistic credibility to the contest at all and that presumption isn't exactly helped by the fact that, well, we know what some people in the UK say about the contest, and that constant rhetoric is only going to leave some people to believe that the only reason why the UK doesn't do better at the contest is legit due to politics and not the quality (or lack there of) of the acts themselves.
So from that point of view I can totally see someone thinking that the show is just all politics now and "True artistry" or whatever phrase you want to use on it is a thing of the past.
Still, we are unlikely to know either way who is representing the UK till further into March or even April at this point.
