The thing is, to do a selection as the X-Factor style justice, it requires dual priority. First of all selecting the ESC entry, but secondly making a viable and well-watched TV show. This will inevitably cost money. On the other hand, open song submissions leading to a grand final could generate the same result and cost significantly less.

Don't make me draw a blueprint though

Actually I think the UK does take Eurovision more seriously than people think. Everyone I know who watched (most of whom aren't fans) are genuinely gutted that we came last.

Nor do I, I judge by entries not countries. Although I do admit some countries have a tendency to send songs I like.

Yeah, me too. To be honest I don't get this "what country is someone from" hype at all. I don't even support my own country if I don't like the song.

If in my mind the wrong song had won this year and if the wrong song wins next year I will not support Sweden at all.
But mostly I do quite like our entries, but we also have a better selection process than the UK.

X-Factor is ITV though, and they don't have licence for the ESC. However, oddly enough, for a wee while they did show the Junior ESC.

LONG LIVE THE SPLIT DIET!!!

I'm pretty much shocked to see people just root for their countries just because it's their home. When I love an entry of ours, I'd say positive things about it all day long everywhere. But if I don't, I'll keep critisising it and laying crap on it (like this year  ).

I'll probably support the Estonian song in the future only if it's REALLY great, I mean like a song that I would actually listen to if it was a regular song and that's comparable to my actual favorites (there has been like under 10 of these kind of songs in ESC), because of the way they messed up the national selection system. Although I'm quite sure this will probably never happen.

I'm mostly embarassed for our entiries but I've supported those that I liked (like last year or 2007).
Anyways, back on topic, I feel that Belarus should have be the last one instead of UK. He at least seemed to be genuenely enjoying it while all those fake smiles and awful dresses/wings made me sick. I even think his song was better than Butterflies.

I'm sure if the Belarusian song was representing someone else, like even UK, most people wouldn't be so hard on it. After all, what was wrong with that besides the butterfly wings?
