Why announce officially that you have withdrawn, then invite those interested to apply?

I wouldn't be surprised if someone actually comes through. I know Ruslana said on instagram that she's absolutely against the idea of withdrawing. Surely there are others who feel the same way. Or some that will just see it as a chance to show off.

i still think the only ethically acceptable option is tayanna. she was supposed to be on vidbir, so the channel did show interest in her this year, but she had to withdraw, so we can't say she lost, specially since maruv was the one who replaced her and eventually she won.
