Re: UKRAINE 2016

tbh it seems kinda meh they've released all of the results, I don't really see the point in watching the final now, unless we have a similar result in semi 2... It's kinda obvious that Jamala is going to win it at this moment, so any suspense has been ruined.

Yeah I mean MF is a complete mess but at least they keep the votes close to the chest until its all over. It changes the whole atmosphere of the contest from competition to coronation. It even harms the potential televote. "I was going to vote for Hardkiss/Neangely in the final but look at that televoting result in the semi. I won't bother now." xshrug

Exactly, I can see they're pushing this whole transparency thing, but there is a line with it. I don't think it would do any harm to keep the results hidden until after the final, just keep everything fair. I don't think they should have even revealed the full voting on TV either, instead just announce the 3 finalists. We will probably see an anti-Jamala vote now and all sorts of drama start.

I hope NeAngely have decided to play it dirty and give some bribes this time around.

Re: UKRAINE 2016

Just watched the performances of the other two songs that made it as I missed most of the show.

Hardkiss were style over substance. Ok, she's stunning, sings well enough but the song does nothing for me either way. A lucky escape because I don't have a good relationship with pop bands like this. I don't actively dislike their song but Ukraine would be near enough bonkers to send something with a complete lack of bite like this song has, when you look at who they've actually got a chance to send. On the plus side I appreciate the ambiance at the start and end of the song. Quite haunting.

I honestly don't know what to think of Brunette Shoot Blondes' song on first listen. It's sweet I suppose. I do have a general aversion to cutesy indie-pop numbers like "Every Monday" but something is stopping me from hating on this one. Another lucky escapexheart Do I want Ukraine to even consider it though? Heck no, you've got one choice...... SEND HER.

Jamala for Ukraine! Go for the extraordinary.

I agree actually. It's kind of stupid really. Also it could very well prove damaging for Jamala, now that fans of the other artists know they'll have to push extra hard for the win. On the other hand Jamala fans could assume she's got this in the bag and not push hard enough. I hate when countries reveal results as the competition is still taking place.

A pop song that's ashamed of itself.

Fair enough, but I would disagree strongly. It's Rock that's trying to push into Metal territory with the dramatic chorus. It's far too heavy to be pop though.

First time hearing Jamala - 1944.... I'm in tears, seriously. What a piece of art, this is why I love music.

Now take your trophy Ukraine, can't wait for The Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in your country.

Re: UKRAINE 2016

I don't know really...
I LOVE Jamala more than everything.... But after hearing them live, seeing them performing, I just got a feeling that Jamalas song and act is just as made up as everything else... I didn't get any feelings of sincerity... When I listen and looked at The Hardkiss I felt more sincerity... I can't excplain it... it is just a feeling inside... :( It feels very upsetting.... :(
I just realised I wanted Hardkiss to win.... :(

Re: UKRAINE 2016

I think Jamala is pretty good vocally, and I hate to disagree with the general consensus here.. but I didn't have much of an 'emotional connection' so to speak. I thought that the "Brunettes Shoots Blondes" and "Hardkiss" songs were better from the clips I have watched on youtube. But any of those three would be great choices if they were sent to Stockholm in my opinion.

I find Jamala's '1944' rather boring, I don't see why there is so much support for it. NeAngely or the highway.

Both The Hardkiss and Jamala have powerful songs, but I gotta say Jamala is pretty extraordinary. The song is very haunting and enigmatic, and her voice is fucking epic!.. the way it almost melts into that flute.... xfaint she seems very passionate as well, which makes the performance even better. I'd love to see her win.

Re: UKRAINE 2016

Jamala for sure is somebody who has great control over her voic, unfortunately I don't like the timbre of her voice in general. But surprisingly for this song (esp. When regarding the lyrics) it somehow fits nevertheless.
I find some parts quite disturbing musically but again this matches the theme of the song.
