Re: UKRAINE 2016

I wish Eria could submit a metal song with her band instead of going solo.
That would have been a cheap version of Evanescense but still better than that))

Alloise mgmt confirmed "Crown".

Re: UKRAINE 2016

Male artists in the Ukraine REALLY aren't interested in ESC are they?
Alekseev's producer complained about that. And he didn't submit an entry (or was punished for b*tching)

Male performers and bands:

Arkadiy Voytyuk
Vladislav Kurasov
Brunettes Shoot Blondes
SunSay (1 gurl)
Peaks of Kings (1 gurl)
The Hardkiss (w/ a frontwoman)
Pringlez (w/ a frontwoman)
Pur:pur (w/ a frontwoman)
ALLOISE (w/ a frontwoman)

Not bad for 18 semifinalists.
a lot of men in the bands this year. I'd say that by quantity they overpass all women))

Previous & recent X Factor winners are on tours, obliged by STB.
I know that 1 popular male band signed a contract with another channel in the last moment. Others didn't qualify.

Re: UKRAINE 2016

Actually, some Ukrainian men are very desperate to participate in Eurovision.

True. If you compare Eduard Romanyuta with Zlata Ognevich or Mariya Yaremchuk, it's no wonder that Ukraine prefers to stick with female artists. I won't blame them. :D

Beautiful song xheart
The best out of all her ESC attempts imo.
I expected something screamy and this is so soft  I like her tenderness... Not sure if the jury will be in awe.

Shushan as a composer surprised me too. I expected it to be slower & even more boring. Too Disney-ish for my taste.

I like Prikhodko's song. It's not a winner but good enough for a NF.

Her accent though. Yikes. It's like she's did not improve at all since her Action days. Didn't she say there was a Ukrainian version too? That's the one she should sing at the NF.

Anastasiya Prikhodko's song quite touched me. Dammit, it caught me at the wrong momentxcry1 I think i'm instantly in love with it. What a beautiful, sincere little song. Her strong accent doesn't even bother me also, in fact it only adds to it's charm for me. Overall I find it a very powerful piece.

Re: UKRAINE 2016

I've read somewhere that Verka Serdutchka allegedly criticized Jamala for her choice of the song. I know that it is about the deportation of the Crimea Tatars under Stalin, but is it true Verka criticized it and if so, what was her critique ?

Apart from this, IF Jamala would represent Ukraine with this song, do you think the EBU would let her (given the "no politics in lyrics"-rule)?

I don't know that she criticized Jamala personally. I think she was just saying in general that ESC is not a place for serious/political songs.

Yeah but it was *he Andriy Danylko, the guy who impersonates Verka. He did say it in general, nothing specifically about Jamala's entry.

Re: UKRAINE 2016

That puzzles me a bit. I'm not sure, but if I remember well, the german counting in Lasha tumbai was hence interpreted as an allusion to the german occupation in Ukraine during WWII. So, ESC is the place for silly songs about serious political subjects, but not for serious ones? Or was the fuzz about the german counting just a fan hoax back then?
