Last year the juries ranked Latvia 2nd. I will be surprised if they don't put this in 1st place. If they don't, I think it will only be to avoid the political drama.

Are you sure that juries ranked Latvia 2nd? Wasn't Russia 2nd both in televote and juries voting, while Sweden and Italy switched places (Sweden winning juries votes, and Italy audiences)? Just asking, but I am almost sure you got it wrong...

So, in which place was Italy last year in juries' rankings? For God's sake, this is even worst than I thought last year. I was sure Italy was third according to juries, but now I see that those juries last year were really sitting on their ears while those guys sang... :geek:

Where did you get those numbers? Wiki is showing Latvia second with 255 points and Russia third with 241.

But yeah, Italy being seventh in the jury vote really is absurd.

Hmm yeah I see - the German Wiki shows different scores.

I'd like to think that the juries just saw the Italian entry for what it was; an absolute pastiche. The public has ratchet taste. This year they will apparently choose Russia as the winner, so I cross my fingers that the jury will do their job once again and save this show from tuning into a tour-de-force in bad taste.

I'm sure, the juries will choose Ukraine for Jamala's strong vocal appearence and also the staging.

The jury's taste is no better but I do hope you are right about them doing their job this year.

Well last years we all were sure that juries will love Italy and that it could have some problems with televoters, but what we got instead? Completely otherwise. So i dont even hope juries will love Jamala, moreover we all know how juries vote now in some countries ;)

Don't mean to drag politics into this, but won't this alienate Russian voters, and potentially a few ex Yugo states who usually give big points to Ukraine?

Up to a certain level it may have an impact, yes, sure. It is not easy to say though, not everyone in ex-Yugo "loves Mother Russia" and I hope the big majority of Eurovision viewers will vote for the music they most liked. :)

I guess it's pretty obvious that the Russian and Ukrainian Juries won't be very friendly towards each others entries

Guys, I have to say that all two pages were only about political voting of the "Eastern" and "ex-Yu" block, however, no one even bothered to mention how political the voting is of the Western countries... So, sorry, but I really disapprove this sort of reasoning like: oh, we now know how some countries vote... Oh, certainly this and that country will vote like this... Well, I could start saying a lot of similar stuff about Baltic-Scandinavian voting, and also Austria and Germany are very generous over the last years one with another... So, basically, there is almost no "angel" here in this story. The only countries that I am unable to predict how they will vote are France, Portugal, and Switzerland. Perhaps also UK, but they also traditionally give high points to Ireland (and vice versa) as well as Greece and also Malta... So, sorry, but I am distancing myself from here. Have fun tonight.

But Russia will probably win the Ukrainian televote because Eastern Ukraine will vote for Russia.
