And it's weird to me that Eurovision is not about finding the perfect song anymore but finding the most attention by means of gimmicks....

What about Dima in 2008? Weakest winning song in years, but Europe fell for the violins and the ice skating routines.

Eurovision has become weaker with music, and stresses more on performing with circus artists and gimmicks.

You know how many times on here I stress the "SONG" thing? You're not alone, but I like different kind of music and I WANT the acts to put effort in their shows aswell.

Now I think Svetlana had one of the best SONGS in 2009 edition, you think I do so because of the supposed "gimmicks" in her show? Now I know for some people it's hard to grasp that there are people out there who can appreciate crazy pop music aswell, but we're all different.

I have so called "Eastern European" roots myself and all my life I heard such comments, they are simply unclassy.

Thats new discovery for me! From where? (if that's not a secret)

I don't have an opinion on the 2009 edition of Eurovision, since I didn't watch it, not even in retrospect.

Good answer!

I love how these "music snobs" pull their Adele and Florence card as some sort of argumentation... well Florence+Machine is one of my favorite current acts and I just LOOOOOVE their latest album... but that doesn't prevent me from liking fun pop music aswell with women shaking what God gave them (well obviously only Eastern European women, because they are only "unclassy enough" to do such things)... *yawn*
btw, notice how they're spending the whole hour here. After all our song brought attention and touched their holy clear souls with its diarrhea rays. Gr8!

That's rude!!

Why does this forum send me generic reminders by email about my registration here, when I am called a snob then for posting my opinion!

Thanks a lot!

Look, guys...
But I would still miss this kind of ESC.

Why? Because of this unique opportunity to hear so many diverse musical genres and styles. This is the only festival that I know of that brings together artists such as Jade Ewen and Laka. InCulto and Lordi. Ani Lorak and Patricia Kaas. Kuunkuiskaajat and Nadine Beiler.

We should cherish that. I certainly know that I do.

Agree 100% :D And i think the variety of artists and genres are what makes this event so entertaining, interesting and dear to the masses.

Not really, you've just blamed me in backing up our entry xshrug Be ready for the same attitude against you (even though it wasn't me who called you like that).
And blaming the forum kinda says it all.

ssshh.. how can you say this!? It's obviously just "gimmicks"

God forbid stage presentations! I want new rules that singers with uptempo shows must hide behind a curtain throughout the performance!

Gimmicks shmimmicks, same difference ;) Saying that it's merely a gimmick makes it seem like the delegation didn't truly excert creative efforts in it. I do wanna say that sometimes having waaaaaaay too gimmicky stage performance can be like copping out

 how dare yeee! how can we survive without the giant stapler, the crazy antics and all that ish. xrofl3

Meanwhile on planet WhatReallyMatters...

I am really starting to like it. That "na na na" hook is really catchy. But, Gaitana, c'mon, girlfriend, you know you have change the lyrics!

Same reaction as Svetlana got in 2009 I see...

I love it though... but people want their wailing ballads and boring show, I bow to Ukraine for finally bringing back some entertainment factor in what would otherwise be a big snoozefest.

I admit seeing that scoreboard that was presented almost at the very beginning of the show felt fishy... I guess I'll have eat my own words up

Anyhow, good choice Ukraine! xcheer

Back are days when Ukraine bring a big SHOW to ESC (I hope)... the juries will hate, but I hate them so it doesn't matter

Please don't compare this to Svetlana. I loved that song and the staging was fantastic, but this is just so mediocre and really isn't that fun either. To me the song is more important than staging, because I won't be watching a video of it after Eurovision. I'll just be left with the song, and I can't see myself listening to this after Eurovision.

And I've been saying this since 2003... ESC should be broadcasted by the radio ONLY.

I agree the song is what counts... I'm not meaning this is really like Svetlana, but I find similarities in how people interpret this entry and reacts to it. I mean I believe the staging here will be pretty cool aswell (hopefully) and I know that many who hated Svetlana's entry actually jumped board after seeing the performance (which imo is the staging in ESC history).

I hope for an updated better version though, more ethno parts, maybe some adjusted lyrics (some Ukrainian thank u very much!).
