Re: Ugaly - 50 editions!

Yay, thank you guys!
50 editions is a long long time to go, and it surprises me our nation has been able to keep it up.

But here we are! And I figure it's about time to reveal our celebratory entry!

Don't worry, I have all the rights.

As several of you may know, I am the son of a relatively successful musician, and I've received a lot of requests to enter my father to NSC throughout the years. So here he is, but not with any of the material he's known for from his solo career. This obscure song, Sprängarn, which was written by my father and performed by him and Börje Reinholdsson, was part of a musical done in my hometown during 1987 about the life of 19th century railway builders in northern Sweden. Reinholdsson played Sprängar-Anders, a crazy dynamite handler, while Piribauer played his goofy companion Jon. This was their theme song.

Easily, this is the most important song in history to me personally. It's been played thousands times throughout my whole childhood and adolescence years alike, and that's why no other song can fit the bill of Ugaly's milestone entry better than this.

The entry will consist of a video of the actual performance from the musical. A proper Lurkin' Bird for it will be posted soon. Meanwhile, enjoy the studio version, and let it remind you of Ugaly's celebrazion!

Months later:

Re: Ugaly - 50 editions!

No Lurkin' Bird has been posted for Sprängarn yet, but it remains available for a retroactive one. First though, let's present entry #51.

These are different times for Ugaly. A lot of new things have entered the nation's attention and priorities have been reshuffled, putting the Nation Song Contest in the medial backseat. Lurkovision, despite troublesome interest conflicts, yet soldiers on to keep up the unbroken representation. The Californian group 8mm with the song Give It Up are the brave souls that have stepped up to take the helm this time, a helm that increasingly few are willing to take. Spirits high, best of luck, we hope you'll represent us with pride, honor and foot sweat!

Presenting the 52nd entry of Ugaly:

8mm's triumph gave our nation a much needed spiritual lift, a lift so high we've had to go astronomical! Piloting our way to the final frontier in Calypso is the Swedish power-metal crew of Dragonland, fueled by the power of Supernova of their appropriately themed album Astronomy. Will they manage a giant leap to the stars? Who knows? Will they crash and burn in the atmosphere below the 10th level? Only the future can tell. Is this entry presentation incredibly cheesy? Most definitely. But what matters is that we'll be fulfilling our mission to the end, and there are no intergalactic disasters that can prevent us! We have lift-off!

Comments are allowed, just for the record.

I was expecting something very slow and rather cheesy after that description, but it couldn't be more different! What an epic song, i love it  Not quite as good as your incredibly impressive last entry (which i neglected to comment on, shame on me), but it would be unfair to compare :p This is wonderful!
It also has a symphonic element to it, so it has something of a chance in NSC imo :D

An unusual mid-edition report feels due thanks to the overwhelming joy washing over the streets of Fuel and other Ugly cities after the success of the nation's first spaceflight endeavour! Our Dragonland heroes have reported high morale in the crew and are aiming to keep the Ugly people proud! Meanwhile the staff behind the mission at the Lurkovision launch base, all very satisfied with the accomplishment and with their spirits renewed like never before, wish to thank the whole of Natia for their invaluable support!

Seriously people, this means so much, I could never properly describe it. With a song that feels so close to home and during a time like this, it could not be more perfect! Thank you for bringing Ugaly to the final! Our 10th qualification from a semifinal since they began!

Our graphics engine is currently inaccessible, please excuse the placeholder in this announcement of Ugaly's 53rd entry:

We said we would, we said we might, we said we definitely wouldn't, ever. A lot of female fronted metal has knocked on the doors of Lurkovision throughout the years, asking to represent Ugaly. Some have come very close, only to be recalled in the last minute to represent a different nation, but no one has ever made it the whole way. This is to some degree thanks to the style's relatively common popularity clashing with Lurkovision's uniquity policy. Just this once though, we couldn't help but fall for the enchanting melodies and poor English skills of Polish band UnSun, breaking Ugly tradition by representing us in Viola Per Sempre with the song Whispers. Don't hurt us, everyone's a hypocrite every once in a while!

Special thanks goes to the nation of Pigeon Island for their co-operation in this entry selection!

With UnSun, Ugaly has reached their third consecutive final! This is the second time after Bajofondo's qualification in NSC 39 following a prequalification, but it's the first time it's occurred solely by means of semifinal qualification! There's not a whole lot to say about our 11th qualification this time, we are naturally very happy and thankful and hold our hopes high for the final! We also applaud UnSun for their bravery, and as a reward, we've fixed their Lurkin' Bird graphics:

In other news, the history recap summarizing Ugaly's long participation has finally resumed its updating after a standstill of 17 editions. This means that the second part, showing editions 24 to 43, has reached completion:

Part 1, featuring editions 4 to 23, can be found here:

Work will eventually begin on the third part, planned to contain our entries from 44 and onwards, eventually all the way up to NSC 63.

We've reached a point we didn't think possible to mortal men, four consecutive NSC finals! Here's the presentation of Ugaly's 54th entry:

Despite the massive negative unbalance in Ugaly's historical success ratio, out of the successes that do exist, many of them have gone very very far. This has given Ugaly a proportionally large amount of prequalifications, and after UnSun's majestic finish in this unbelievably epic ongoing streak, we're now entering the fifth such occasion. Ugaly is an infamous opportunist in terms of prequalification, choosing to take advantage of those situations to create final lineups containing material otherwise rarely seen beyond a semifinal position. Often this has been of the provoking kind, but this time, instead of simian child rape, Ugaly simply wishes with our hearts to give this final ticket to our most internally successful act in history. They are, in our own words, the very gods of all musical creation, the reestablishers of heavy metal, the Englishmen who will never fall. They are Iron Maiden.
This group has been sent twice before, both times by Ugaly, first in NSC 7 and again for our twentieth anniversary in NSC 23. Currently topical over the whole world with their fifteenth and latest album, The Final Frontier, Iron Maiden will be performing one of the new tracks from that very album. Isle of Avalon, track six of The Final Frontier, is a 9-minute epic about the namesake island of Arthurian legend, a perfect representation of the band's advanced progressive style of the latest eleven years and an entry containing everything to be an Ugly entry of the highest pride. Regardless of whether you like it or not, we give you this entry with the deepest of our honesty and will continue to stand taller than ever, whatever way it may take us!
