UEFA Champions League, 2nd round:
CFR Cluj - Malmo
I think CFR can pass Malmo, but I would've wanted a harder opponent so they would've been seeded in the 3rd round.
UEFA Europa League, 1st round:
Racing Union - Viitorul Constanta
Great draw for Viitorul!
UEFA Europa League, 2nd round:
Rudar Velenje/ Tre Fiori/::wl Bala Town - FCSB Bucharest
I think we can beat any of these reams.
Racing Union/ Viitorul Constanta - Vitesse Arnhem
Though draw for Viitorul, but I think they have chances!
Who's your club team in Romania?
Ajax vs Sturm Graz.
Ajax are going more and more downwards, remember their clash with Rapid Wien a few years ago. Dutch football fans will probably say that Ajax are the favourite, but I'm not too sure about that...
AZ vs Kairat Almaty / Endorgany / Folgore.
Well, that one should be pretty easy, shouldn't it?
Vitesse vs Viitorul / Union Luxembourg.
This one shouldn't be too hard for Vitesse, but Vitesse play extremely messy at times.
HJK Helsinki vs Vikingur.
HJK are by far the best team Finland has to offer. Vikingur are just an average Icelandic team being currently ranked 8th in the Icelandic league with just 9 points after 9 games, which means they're already 12 pts behind the league leaders Valur. So it's obvious that HJK are favourite to qualify.
FC Lahti vs FH Hafnarfjor∂ur.
I'm not sure what to think about this one, though FC Lahti did beat HJK yesterday. The chances are probably 50-50.
KuPS vs FC København.
Obviously FC København are the favourite in this one. KuPS haven't been in form against the top Finnish sides. I'll say FC København will win this one.
FC Vaduz vs Levski Sofia.
This is definitely not the draw FC Vaduz would've wanted. Levski will qualify, I'm pretty sure about that.
I have some sympathy for FC Vaduz. I took a picture with their full squad during the summer of 2004. What a lovely time that was. I still go to their stadium every year while being on holidays
AZ vs Kairat Almaty
This is a trickier tie than most dutch people will think.
Exactly. I also think Vitrolul or that Luxembourg team are hard to do. Every qualification game in Europe has been difficult for Dutch teams.
Are you from Luxembourg?
Well I saw Progres Niederkorn beat Rangers last year so Luxembourg teams can sometimes be tricky.
Well I saw Progres Niederkorn beat Rangers last year so Luxembourg teams can sometimes be tricky.
Well, there are more instances of that kind of stuff. Luxembourg is not to be underestimated for mid-country teams anymore. (Austria, Netherlands, Scotland...)
But last year was abysmal for Dutch football in Europe. Feyenoord took 3 points after Napoli was sure they couldn't go through the group anymore. Ajax and PSV didn't even made the group stages of the Europa League.(lost to Rosenborg and Osijek...) And Vitesse took 5 points when it didn't really mattered anymore. Only FC Utrecht did what they should do. The top three of NL Should normally survive winter or end last in the CL group.
But we are now in the phase that clubs from nations worse than France are almost dead in Europe Club Football. I mean Ajax's EL final really was a miracle, they had the youngest average team ever in a final in Europe. Cause every player in our league can earn more in England Premier League or Championship or Germany, Italy, Spain and so on. And don't claim it should be like that, cause Ajax for example has way more history than Norwich or Leicester or QPR. Club football is dead in the minor European Leagues that don't have money. Even the national television stations don't want to pay anymore for Champions League. And I only watch finals, cause I don't really care anymore. It's just not fun anymore for the middle ones. Let alone the little ones. And if there is place for a good club it's only one, cause if the money is alternating between clubs, like in the Netherlands, it goes wrong.
This Champions League is made for France, Italy, Spain, England and Germany. And also for China, UAE, Qatar and so on. But the middle European countries have been forgotten. I hope we will boycott the CL actually very soon.
And Differdange beat FC Utrecht in 2013
