Europa League:

:pt: Rio Ave 0 - 0 IFK Gothemburg :se: (1-0 agg)

So Rio Ave qualify on their first ever European face-off! They were superior to IFK today but just couldn't score a goal.

On the playoff rounds all Portuguese teams will be seeded: Porto on the CL and Nacional and Rio Ave on the EL.

I'm very happy for Stjarnan :is:
They made a sensation by defeating the highly favorured Lech Poznan side without conceding a goal. Now they are just one step away from becoming the first Icelandic team in the group stage.
However, I don't see a realistic chances for them to make it. The easiest potential opponent is probably Rio Ave from Portugal and maybe Sheriff Tiraspol (don't really how good they are). Stjarnan has to overachieve and maybe hope that they got underestimated.
But nice to see how Iceland exceeds its big brother Norway not only in terms of national team but also at club level :D
No offense against Norway, just delight for my favourite country Iceland :p

UEFA Europa Legue, 3rd round:

:cz: Slovan Liberec - Astra Giurgiu :ro: 2 - 3 (2 - 6 agg.)
Great result for Astra and I hope they make the group stage!

:cz: Viktoria Plzen - Petrolul Ploiesti :ro: 1 - 4 (2 - 5 agg.)
Amazing result for Petrolul! This was the match that showed that Adrian Mutu is still a great player.

:ro: CFR Cluj - Dinamo Minsk :by: 0 - 2 (0 - 3 agg.)
CFR Cluj was a shame in this European season and it was expected, as the stole Dinamo Bucharest's spot.

Legia won't in Champions League play-off round, due to ineligible player. Bartosz Bereszyński (Legia's defender) was sent-off in UEFA Europa League match last season, and he needed to don't play for 3 matches. But he wasn't reported by Legia on both matches with St.Patrick Atlethic, only for first match against Celtic. And it means that he wasn't playing by red card, only for one match. Sad, but this the rules.

I also want an icelandic team in the group stage. UEFA divided the teams in 6 pots. Stjarnan's possible opponents are Inter, Feyenoord, Real Sociedad, Sheriff Tiraspol, Panathinaikos and FC Brugge. What a horrible draw for them. Even Sheriff seems too strong. They're moldovan champion 3rd time in a row and made it into EL group stage 3 times (2009, 2010, 2013).

:is: in EL seems to stay a dream this year :( But at least Malmö, Copenhagen and Aalborg are in any group stage, since the losers of CL Play-Offs were save for EL Group Stage xyes

And HJK and Midtjylland also have the chance to qualify. Go Scandinavia!!!

Stjarnan vs Inter Milan

R.I.P. Stjarnan :(

German teams were lucky today...

In the CL play-offs Leverkusen has to play against Kopenhagen. A pretty doable challenge for them, shouldn't be a problem

In the EL play-offs we only have one team since Mainz once again messed it up against an underdog

Our team in the play-offs is Borussia Mönchengladbach and they gonna face FK Sarajevo. I expect two relatively clear wins

Oh, Malmö got Salzburg...well better them than Steaua at least. :/

But Elfsborg got Rio Ave, that was a pretty decent draw, wasn't so convinced after just 1-0 against IFK Göteborg, so they might do it! :)

UEFA Champions League, Play-Off:

:ro: Steaua Bucharest - Ludogorets :bg:
Bad draw! Ludogorets is a strong team and we must win at home without receiveing a goal, in order to make our match in Sofia easier.

UEFA Europa League, Play-Off:

:fr: Olympique Lyon - Astra Giurgiu :ro:
Terrible draw for Astra! No chance I think!

:ro: Petrolul Ploiesti - Dinamo Zagreb :hr:
Dinamo are favourites, but I think Petrolul has a chance. I mean, they can't be much stronger than Viktoria Plzen.

Maribor VS Celtic. Another tough draw, but they should be grateful to have another shot at the CL. Good news is that even in defeat they will be in the Europa League group stages.

:fr: Lille - FC Porto :pt:

UEL

:by: Dinamo Minsk -Nacional :pt:
:se: Elfsborg - Rio Ave :pt:

Rio Ave has the toughest job I would say, but every team has the capacity to make it to the group stages! Last year only Braga failed, so hopefully this year we'll be back to having all teams qualified to the group stages.

Before analyzing our next rival in the Europa League play off (that is :az: Neftchi Baku), just to return to the latest match.....

:rs: Partizan 2:2 :bg: Ludogorets

Sadly, another tie and, since this time, it was a tie with goals on both sides, Ludogorets advanced to the play-off.

We didn't start the match well. There was too much pressure and everyone was just very nervous. That reflected on the huge number of technical mistakes and a huge number of wrong passes. After two indolent reactions of our defense, we got two goals in the interval of 3 minutes and it looked like we are going to suffer a debacle, but then we went on "all or nothing", and Ludogorets also relaxed, thinking that the match is over, and then we also scored 2 goals in a short time period, and just when we were in a momentum, close to completely turn the tables, our defender purposely made an idiotic move, got a red card, and then the match was over.In the second half, there was simply not enough strength to chase the third goal, as Ludogorets was dominating on the middle of the field and they have "hidden" the ball from us, so, in circumstances like these, the third goal was simply not possible.Sadly, Ludogorets wasn't better than us last year, and they were, especially, not better than us this year, but yet on both occasions, they were the ones who advanced to the play-off, and I would say that they were just the team that knew how to use and punish our mistakes and that is why they are still in game for the Champions League. And we are, yet again, knocked out after a huge individual mistake.Still, we have a nice chance to make it to the Europa League group stage, and I really hope we will be there.

And now a short summary of our rival in the Europa League play-off:

:rs: Partizan - :az: Neftchi Baku

I think this is a great draw for us. We are definetly a stronger team and we will be the favorites in this duel. We already played against Neftchi 2 years ago in the group stage of Europa League, so we know them well.

This team of Neftchi is actually quite weaker than the one we faced 2 years ago, and actually only a couple of players from that team are still here, as far as I see. Neftchi is not dominant in the Azerbaijani league anymore, and they struggled a lot in all of their European matches so far. Plus, now they lost the first match in the league with 3:0, so it can be seen that they have a lot of problems. It is also seen, though, that they play better as guests than on the home field.

Since the first leg is played in Belgrade, we should prepare well and try to solve this duel in the first match already. It will not be easy at all, since I am pretty sure that :az: Neftchi will be ultra-motivated against us, as, for them as well, this is a match of the season. In case we manage to get a solid capital in the first leg, it will be much easier for us in the second, in :az: .

I cheer for only two clubs (love for both lasts 12 years):

lucian-crusher you don't have to worry about Petrolul because Dinamo is horrible lately. Mamić can buy players, but he can't buy a team.
