The problem was resolved! Gaz Metan Medias will play the first match in Wien and the second match in Cluj, even if the draw decided different! So Steaua will play as scheduled the first leg in Cluj and the 2nd leg in Sofia! I am happy because we play the decisive match in Sofia where I think we will feel more at home then in that Horible CFR Cluj stadium that we call home xpuke

Why Steaua don't play in Bucuresti?

Why Steaua don't play in Bucuresti?

Because the Ministery of Defence that owns Steaua's stadium asked for an enormous rent so we had to leave! We will play all our matches on National Arena but that won't be open until September so until then we play the league matches in Constanta and the European matches in Cluj.

Rapid and Dinamo are in the same situation. Until Septemjber Rapid is playing league matches in Pitesti and Europe matches in Timisoara and then they will move on National Arena. Dinamo has moved permanently to Ploiesti and they won't come back to Bucharest because they said they don't have enough fans to fill National Arena!

I don't know what to think about the draw for Odense.. but I think we got a chance if play to our best and if Rossi gets sold ;)... - I'm sad to see the price for this match. where the Panatinaikos match only was 20 Euro... - They take 40 for this one... I really don't think we don't get the stadion sold-out because of the price... As a student I don't have that kind of money laying around for a football match sadly :/

Partizan will play against Shamrock Rovers in the play-off for Europa League. Not to underestimate Shamrock, but everyone in Partizan were celebrating when we got this rival (including me ), and this is by far the weakest rival we could've got. I think Partizan is a clear favorite, and personally I think it would be a sensation if Shamrock eliminates us. Everything will be finished in Ireland, I am sure. I expect Partizan to win with at least 2-3 goals in Shamrock's net in both matches.

As for our elimination from Genk......we eliminated ourselves :( Both matches against Genk should go and serve as a case study for the book "How to lose the game you should've won" X-OI We had everything, and then we got a penalty by playing handball just like on the World Cup last year, and as we didn't won, we got eliminated. But that's life. I am happy that we outplayed Genk in both matches, and we never managed to outplay the Belgian champion (Anderlecht, Standard and Brigge) in the previous occasions where we met them.

:rs: Crvena Zvezda will play against :fr: Stade Rennais in the Europa League play off. They have chances, but Rennais is a favorite I think. They are physically much better and stronger than Zvezda, have a very strong attack, while Zvezda's defense is quite bad.

The tickets for the match Steaua - CSKA Sofia where sold out! :D
It's interesting how Steaua is playing o CFR Cluj stadium against CSKA Sofia and manages to fill the stadium, while last year CFR Cluj played in UEFA Champions League on the same stadium, against Bayern Munchen, AS Roma and FC Basel, with half of the seats empty

Bayern München didn´t play well in the first half, but had many chances in the second one, so they deserved the victory.

^Yeah, that was an utter embarrassment from our team. Words can not describe it, but i guess that's what happens when we change half of our team without getting any proper replacements. I'm starting to think Roland Nilsson isn't suited for the job as a coach for the biggest scandinavian club at all. :?

I'm pretty sure the same will happen for OB if they get success in Champions League like we had last season.

Anyway, congrats to Jeffie, the city of Odense! Epic performance! A major victory for Danish football. We might be leading the league, but it's pretty clear that you're by far the best team in Denmark right now. ;)

It was a great team effort last night just like in Greece and I think we can do a miracle in El Madrigal in 5 days. :) - I didn't see the FCK match, because I was watching the Arsenal match... But looking at FCK's tactic and the reactions to the match from the friends of mine I must say HOW COULD NILSON PUT CLAUDIMIR AS FORWARD?! Didn't you have both Santin and Nordstrand (the last guy whom I think is a underated player) :)

^ Our formation was 4-5-1 which was completely stupid and inconsiderable bearing in mind that we were on home ground where we haven't lost in 25 matches (well, till two days ago). We had to attack, and yet Roland decides for us to go with a defensive tactic.

Nordstrand has been underestimated, yes, and he actually came in as a substitute later that game, but made no remarkable difference. The guy lacks some physics and strength to compete on international level imo, though in Superligaen he's okay.

Besides...the players that have arrived this summer have not been able to match the ones who left...
For example, we bought Pate Diouf from Norway for no less than 18 mio DKKR which is insane looking at how bad he's been for us. Grindheim hasn't been able to live up to his reputation from Norway either. I thought he'd be the new Linderoth and a real fighter, but so far not impressed.

Btw, Claudemir wasn't on top as forward (oh dear, that would've a disaster), it was N'Doye. :p

If things doesn't improve on saturday against Horsens I dunno where we're heading. Crisis is probably too early to talk about, but I don't think it's that far away. Among us fans the talking about firing him has already begun.

It's pretty obvious that Swedish coaches aren't the best for us  Hans Backe was kinda meh, but Roland Nilsson seems even worse. I want our epic Norwegian back from Köln. :(

Another problem in the club as I see it is the attitude. Because we've been playing CL a couple of times people start to take it all for granted. CL is something you have to fight for no matter the opponent. We clearly underestimated Viktoria Plzen and now we've learned it the hard way. At the draw some supporters where like "oh well, a czech team we don't even know about, therefore we must overrule them completely"....same happened with APOEL from Cyprus some years ago.

Who knows, maybe it's a good thing for us to sit out for this year's Champions Leauge as it may teach managers, fans, and players to value and appreciate a place in Champions League.
We'll let OB take over this year and wave the danish flag for us as you seem like much more worthy participants this year. It was clear that your players wanted to do everything possible for a spot in CL, so the victory couldn't be more deserved. Madrigal will be tough, but definitely possible. :p

The most positive thing about playing in Europe League is that we have the opportunity to draw Spurs for group stage. Would be so epic to have them in Copenhagen. :D

:ro: Steaua Bucharest - CSKA Sofia :bg: 2 - 0 xfruits:
AMAZINH! I am so happy! OMG! And I promise I will never say bad things about CFR Cluj from now one! Their fans made Steaua feel 10 times more on home than in Ghencea....
And I can't believe how good Nikolic is and I wonder how did Poli Timisoara found such a good player in :me:?

As for the others:

:pl: Slask Wroclaw - Rapid Bucharest :ro: 1 - 3 xfruits:
Congratulations! Maybe we will have another UEFAntastic season with you! :D

:ro: SC Vaslui - Sparta Praga :cz: 2 - 0 xfruits:
Now this was surprising! SC Vaslui had 7 players injured and they prcaticly played with the 2nd team! Congratulations!

:at: Austria Viena - Gaz Metan Medias :ro: 3 - 1 :((
I guess It's over for them but it's a surprise they managed to reach the Play-Off!

:ua: Vorskla Poltava - Dinamo Bucharest :ro: 2 - 1 :((
I guess Dinamo still has chances and hopefully they will make it!

Lazio (ITA) - RABOTNICKI (MKD) 6:0.  It was Rabotnicki's worst play ever. They were afraid from the very first minute and made so many mistakes, luckily the goalie saved many of those shots. Rabotnicki played with few key players, but even that is no reason why they played like a team from San Marino, defending themselves in the first half. :? Anyway, it is now clear that Lazio is going through. I would be happy if Rabotnicki wins home with just 1:0.

:fi: HJK Helsinki vs. FC Schalke 04 :de: 2:0
Schalke, last year´s Champions League semi-finalist, lost in Helsinki with 2:0.... really didn´t expect this, but I´m quite sure, they can fix this at home

:de: Hannover 96 vs. FC Sevilla :es: 2:1
Great match from Hannover! Another surprise today. Maybe, they can make it to the next round.

I really didnt predict Rovers would have a chance of qualification after the first leg, so wow.
Still, the Serbs will thrash them at home but well done to Rovers for getting a remarkable draw :)

According to the papers the day after the match they wrote that Claudimir was play just behind N'Doye as a "hanging" striker so it was a 4-4-2 they played but I still don't get why they didn't use two strikers instead of just N'Doye... If FCK doesn't qualify i don't think there will be much thread for Nilsson if they start losing in Superligaen :)

Congrats to Dinamo Zagreb for their qualification in the CL. They waited for 12 or so years, I believe. Genk, APOEL Nicosia, Bayern Munich and Villareal will join them. :)

Bayern didn´t have to win to reach the groups, but they won without playing very good.

Fenerbahçe out of Champions League

Turkish champion Fenerbahçe will not be playing in the top European competition, Turkish football federation announced Wednesday.

In a statement released from the website of the national football’s governing body, it was said that Fenerbahçe will not represent the country in the Champions League.

The federation said it was a request from UEFA, the continental football’s governing body.

“In a report sent to the Turkish Football Federation on Aug. 23, 2011, the UEFA has said Fenerbahçe should be withdrawn from the Champions League and it should be excluded if the club does not make this decision,” the statement read. “If one of those ways are not chosen, UEFA would start its own disciplinary investigation and would start sanctions against the Turkish Football Federation, which means our country.”

The decision meant the Turkish champion will not take its place among the European elite as the UEFA Champions League group stage draws are made in Geneva, Switzerland on Thursday.

UEFA has previously promised that any club found guilty of corrupted matches will be kicked out of its marquee competition and have its results wiped from the record.

‘’UEFA is working very hard behind the scenes to ride the game of these threats,’’ Secretary-General Gianni Infantino said at the playoffs draw earlier this month. ‘’We will not hesitate to prosecute any individual, any official or any club.’’

Chairman Aziz Yıldırım is in jail pending trial, along with four other club board members, on allegations of match fixing.
