What a way to wake up! Our curling teams destroy their competition, 4 Canadians in the next round of men's moguls, and Charles Hamelin gets gold in short track!

And the first tragedy in men pursuit in biathlon, won by Martin Fourcade. Jean-Philippe Le Guellec was leading after 2 shootings, but then he fall and broke a ski, so he loses many time, and end up far away from the medal places. Very sad. :(

Up to know two medals for Germany, both are gold medals
it could be more medals.. unfortunately Pechstein (ice skating), Schempp (biathlon) and Wellinger/Wank (ski jumping) barely missed the podium
I'm looking forward to the team events, because in many disciplines we don't have top athletes anymore, but at least very good teams. Moreover I expect that we win every possible gold medal in Luge driving

Maybe the german team will only win gold medals :D But then it will be impossible to win the 30 medals, our NOC expect :D

Another 1-2 finish for Canada in men's moguls! Alex Bilodeau becomes the first in the history of freestyle skiing to repeat as Olympic champion with a phenomenal final run with teammate Mikael Kingsbury taking silver!

CANADA I LOVE YOU!!!!! xyaaay :ca: xyaaay

True :D but the NOC expectations are quite ridiculous...I remember that they demanded 86 (!) medals in London lol

there is such a gap between aspiration and reality... it's like they still live in the 90s years

I assume that we will win like 20-25 medals, hopefully 7, 8 gold medals

Ladies' supercombination (alpine skiing) was so great and exciting today! Maria Höffl Riesch defended her gold from Vancouver but it was really tight!:) The biggest tragedy for Tina Maze (4th place), Julia Mancuso was better for only 10 hundreds/sec and won bronze! That girl is really amazing, nobody excpected this from her! Biathlon was exciting too.
But I heard some stories about banning supercombination from the Olympic games in the future??? I hope it won't happen.:(

Indeed, and what an weak season she's been having until now. Almost the same thing happened last time in Vancouver. Sometimes I feel like she could retire and just show up at the Olympics to take the medals.
Really sorry to see Tina without a medal tho :( xrunhug

Yes, they were ridiculous in London, because they wanted some medals in swimming :D

But 30 medals is what our team won in Vancouver, and there are some new competitions, e.g. the team race in luge, where they could win a medal.

So it will be hard to do, but it could become true.

okay, 30 medals is by far not as unrealistic as the 85 medals in London...

but compared to Vancouver, there is a huge loss auf quality
we won 4 medals in biathlon. this year I think 2 are realistic (just the team competitions)
we won 4 in bobsleigh. this year our bobsleigh athlets are behind the top, I calculate on 1 medal this year
we won 5 medals in cross country.. this year we only have chances in the sprint competition, so maybe 2 medals
in addition it will be hard to reach 4 medals in ice skating, since Pechstein already missed one chance and apart of her Jenny Wolf is our only medal contender

I dont wanna write too much, but I guess you see my intention

Some athletes raise my hopes like 17-years old Lisa Zimmermann in slopestyle

And like always I try to be optimistic :D

So you mentioned one of the athletes who could win a medal, we may lose in the other disciplines (never say never, although i also believe e.g. our teams in cross country haven't any chance)

So, there are many other who could a medal in a competition, where Germany didn't win a medal last time. I hope for the slalom ladies in the snowboard competitions and our luge doubles seem to fight the race for gold between themselves. I think this is usual for any olympics. Some disciplines won't be as good as last olympics, some will win more medals than last time.

And we have BRONZE MEDAL!!!!! Vesna Fabjan was third in sprint today! This this one was totally unexpected!

So, now we have bronze and silver. Now I would really like to hear our Zdravljica in Sochi :D
