Porto is not even competing

I just read it a few Pages ago. But no matter which city competes, it must admit that everyone wants to lisbon.

They kinda are, trough Gondomar and Santa Maria da Feira. As they don't have a venue themselves capable of hosting Eurovision they are throwing their support behind those cities.

Gondomar and Sta. Maria da Feira are different cities

I know, but the Porto metropolitan region is throwing their support and probably will finance the bids if they win. They are mainly supporting Santa Maria da Feira though.
And it's obvious they are doing this because they want the contest to be hosted in the Porto metropolitan region and not in Lisbon, but Porto itself doesn't have any suitable venues. Which is a real shame by the way, and very embarrassing for such a big and beautiful city.

Sure but it's the metropolitan area not the city itself ;)

What happened to hosting in soccer arenas? Düsseldorf did it, so anyone can do it.

The soccer arena in düsseldorf had a roof. I don't know any arena in portugal that has one.

The stadium in Porto it's not only open at the top but also at the sides  I hope in the near future the city has a proper arena

Baku built an entire arena. A temporary roof should not be less feasible than that.

That saves a lot of cost for air condition :)

Update

Local media is reporting that Lisbon is the chosen city and the venue will be MEO Arena. It's also said that the contest will take place between the last days of April and the first days of May

http://observador.pt/2017/07/24/ja-esta-decidido-festival-da-eurovisao-2018-vai-ser-em-lisboa/

It would be so weird to have Eurovision as early as April! When was the last time that happened?
Let's wait for the news tomorrow. RTP is holding a press conference at 5.30 PM GMT.
