I am so excited! And wow! It's only 2 days after ESC 2017 ended and we're talking about 2018 I have a feeling it wil one one of the best ESC ever

30 million euro is the budget. It's more than 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017 but slightly less than 2014. I thought the budget was going to be smaller! Anywho I am impressed by how fast Portugal has made decisions

I think with it being the first time they've ever hosted Eurovision, they'll want to make it special. And rightfully so!

I remember the Euros in 2004 (I was only 7 at the time, but was out there with my family), the atmosphere was really laid back and I loved it. Granted we didn't go to Lisbon, but the Portuguese people do seem really nice.

Lisbon gives me awesome vibes. I can't wait to go.

Does anyone know when we expect an exact announcement in regards to the exact date?

The Accor Hotels are not available anymore for May 2018 or fricking expensive. The Mercure Almada, where I booked the Executive Suite last year for 111 EUR already is at 333 EUR

I will look for Hotels in Badajoz or Merida and we will make a bus trip.

I think that's just their estimate of what the maximum budget can be. They haven't decided yet.

I think it's 100% certain that it's going to be on May 12th. The previous week has Champions League/Europa League semi-finals, the following week has German Cup finals (and the poor NRD can't allow both events to overlap, of course ) and the last week of may has the Champions League final.

It will be a pleasure to come back to probably my favourite city after 10 years
And all the MEO arena area was the only one I had no time to visit back then!

Yes, but the initial dates for this year were actually this week. They brought back the dates a week for some reason I don't remember.
Still, the first week is probably too soon, I don't think the contest was ever held that early, was it? Everything seems to point towards the May 12th week, I'm actually surprised they haven't officially confirmed that date yet!

Some other cities are complaining that they wanted an opportunity to host too. Guimarães, Santa Maria da Feira, Faro, Coimbra, etc. The thing is those cities wouldn't stand a chance. Their venues are too small, and some of them don't have enough accomodation (Santa Maria da Feira, seriously? )
Porto's biggest venue will start renovation soon and maybe will hold a bigger capacity after that. If so, they could host after a eventual 2nd win for Portugal. But right now the most viable option is Lisbon.

I didn't want to take the risk since my fellow citizens are starting to plan a massive invasión in Portugal

Many hotels/hostels/appartments are already full around May 12th 2018 after few days!
