My prediction on openers and closers:
Opening:
:cz: :au:

Closing:
:fi: :ua:

I realized that the opener and closer in SF2 is the first and last country alphabetically in that semi

henhu in the 1st half of the 1st semi, you have 4 uptempo songs one behind another,
and then 6 ballads one behind another. This will never happen.

FoxOfShadows, last year the breaks where between song 6 & 7 and song 13 & 14, so I guess it is the same this year...but I liked your idea thinking about the breaks, cause I guess it is those that is the biggest reason why we got this deciding running order.

This is what I think if I was the producer :geek::

SEMIFINAL 1
1. :az: (need to start with something uptempo)
2. :lt: (is nice to have something calmer here)
3. :al: (bringing up the heat a little)
4. :ee: (need to bring the favorites in now, fits well after Albania)
5. :bg: (even if both songs are mysterious, we need to keep the favorites together while people are still watching)
6. :il: (Of course the most divisive song has to be put just before a break.)
-BREAK- (people talking about what they seen and especially their thoughts on Israel)
7. :by: (need some time to get together his outfit, if the lightsuit is coming along to Lisbon)
8. :be: (people will be for sure seated by now for the next contender)
9. :cz: (Better bring an another fave in the mix)
10. :is: (with two pretty decisive songs and only one break, someone has to lose of being after one of them...better this than others..)
11. :hr: (if people are still awake after Iceland, than this fits decently)
12. :ie: (could fight for the same votes as Iceland, producers like to make "battles" between similar songs if possible, just check Georgia vs. Albania 2017)
13. :cy: (must have something uptempo before the break)
-BREAK- (People have time to bring something more to drink or eat while humming on "Fuego".
14. :am: (could be before the break as well, but I think it fits slightly better after)
15. :ch: (Need to be something different in between the "battle of mystical power ballads sung in different languages")
16. :gr: (fights with Armenia for possibly the same votes, if we exclude diaspora)
17. :mk: (could fit in a little everywhere to be honest, nothing that disturbs people)
18. :at: (Last ballad of the night, fits the best)
19. :fi: (need to end uptempo with a good show, and Saara could bring it good enough)

SEMIFINAL 2:
1. (A nice way to start the show with a name most people recognize with and that has a funny song.)
2. :ru: (It is good to keep the Russians, who also are interested in Rybak, on their tv-screens a little more.)
3. :rs: (Could scare away a few viewers, but not divisive enough to be put before a break)
4. :sm: (If viewers have run away, then just keep going with this then...)
5. :dk: (Hopefully the viewers are back now, a different song to keep the viewers seated for a while)
6. :md: (the most divisive song left has to be put before the break)
-BREAK- (People discussing if the first semi wasn't better and if Moldova is as good as last year)
7. :nl: (can't put this and Romania next after each other, and probably not Moldova and Romania either...best to put this one here.
8. :au: (Something has to be put between the "rockish" songs, and why not a contender then?)
9. :ro: (Rockish song that is a nice continuation from the first half)
10. :lv: (Battles perhaps with Malta for voters)
11. :ua: (Feels like the most suitible choice, also keeping the ex-ussr voters on their toes.
12. :mt: (Could fit almost anywhere)
13. :hu: (The most divisive song of the semi is needed here.)
-BREAK- (People cheering or swearing over the Hungarian song)
14. :se: (need a little extra time to arrange the strobelights)
15. :me: (fights with Georgia for the same voters perhaps)
16. :pl: (Keep the swedes interested, so why not put an another swede on stage?)
17. :ge: (could fight with Montenegro for the same votes)
18. :sl: (Need to end uptempo, and with a pretty divisive beat, this might be the most suitible one.)

So this is what I think...and I am probably wrong, but it is fun to theorize at least.

My prediction

SEMI 1

01. :cz: Most suitable way to start to the semi imo, upbeat and fresh
02. :is: Might as well put something terrible in the death slot
03. :by: No particular reason
04. :ee: The first big fave of the night
05. :az: The audience needs something generic while they still talk about Eesti
06. :lt: Stands out more in between two upbeat numbers
- BREAK -
07. :il: Won't detract too much from Lithuania if there is a break in between
08. :al: I wanted to spread out the male performers a bit
09. :be: No particular reason
10. :bg: Powerful song to end the first half
11. :hr: In the same kind of jazzy vein as Austria, so I needed to split them up
12. :fi: I also did the same thing with Azerbaijan, Finland, and Cyprus - they are too similar to each other
- BREAK -
13. :ie: The only really slow song in this half
14. :ch: No particular reason
15. :am: No particular reason
16. :at: Not strong enough to close the semi
17. :gr: Works as kind of a midway point between Armenia's ballad and Cyprus' ethno pop
18. :mk: Getting people pumped for the big finale
19. :cy: Absolute banger, people will leave on a high note

SEMI 2

01. :md: People will get moving
02. :sm: Again, might as well give this slot to a song with no chance anyway
03. :dk: Originally had this fourth, but wanted to split this up with the Netherlands
04. :rs: The only non-English song in this half should go in the middle
05. :nl: Will stand out regardless of its draw, due to its unique genre
06. :ro: Tbh I just wanna see if this would still qualify sandwiched between two strong entries
- BREAK -
07. :au: Producers want to help the Aussies, but possibly in a less conspicuous way given the jury vote last year
08. :ru: Needed to divide Australia and Norway, two upbeat songs, with something a bit slower
09. Two love-it-or-hate-it performances in a row, yes please
10. :mt: Inoffensive, would probably work anywhere
11. :pl: Ditto, people can use these songs as a toilet break
12. :me: Needed to spread this apart from Georgia
- BREAK -
13. :lv: No particular reason
14. :ua: No particular reason
15. :ge: Probably should go in between two 'normal' entries
16. :se: Robin Bengtsson situation, performing third last seemed to work well
17. :hu: No particular reason
18. :sl: Upbeat and unique finishing song, also my biased self would love to see them reach the final (but then again it could do a Triana Flop)

Now that I think about it, I think :al: would make a great opener. It’s different from everything else in its half, and has that kind of uplifting/anthem of quality that an opener needs.

I actually thought about that already, Albania would be a great opener. I kinda want it to happen for selfish reasons, as Eugent shot his postcard in my city. I can't even imagine all the feels it would bring me to see my city as the first postcard of a Eurovision held in Portugal
