FoxOfShadows, last year the breaks where between song 6 & 7 and song 13 & 14, so I guess it is the same this year...but I liked your idea thinking about the breaks, cause I guess it is those that is the biggest reason why we got this deciding running order.
This is what I think if I was the producer
:
SEMIFINAL 1
1.
(need to start with something uptempo)
2.
(is nice to have something calmer here)
3.
(bringing up the heat a little)
4.
(need to bring the favorites in now, fits well after Albania)
5.
(even if both songs are mysterious, we need to keep the favorites together while people are still watching)
6.
(Of course the most divisive song has to be put just before a break.)
-BREAK- (people talking about what they seen and especially their thoughts on Israel)
7.
(need some time to get together his outfit, if the lightsuit is coming along to Lisbon)
8.
(people will be for sure seated by now for the next contender)
9.
(Better bring an another fave in the mix)
10.
(with two pretty decisive songs and only one break, someone has to lose of being after one of them...better this than others..)
11.
(if people are still awake after Iceland, than this fits decently)
12.
(could fight for the same votes as Iceland, producers like to make "battles" between similar songs if possible, just check Georgia vs. Albania 2017)
13.
(must have something uptempo before the break)
-BREAK- (People have time to bring something more to drink or eat while humming on "Fuego".
14.
(could be before the break as well, but I think it fits slightly better after)
15.
(Need to be something different in between the "battle of mystical power ballads sung in different languages")
16.
(fights with Armenia for possibly the same votes, if we exclude diaspora)
17.
(could fit in a little everywhere to be honest, nothing that disturbs people)
18.
(Last ballad of the night, fits the best)
19.
(need to end uptempo with a good show, and Saara could bring it good enough)
SEMIFINAL 2:
1.
(A nice way to start the show with a name most people recognize with and that has a funny song.)
2.
(It is good to keep the Russians, who also are interested in Rybak, on their tv-screens a little more.)
3.
(Could scare away a few viewers, but not divisive enough to be put before a break)
4.
(If viewers have run away, then just keep going with this then...)
5.
(Hopefully the viewers are back now, a different song to keep the viewers seated for a while)
6.
(the most divisive song left has to be put before the break)
-BREAK- (People discussing if the first semi wasn't better and if Moldova is as good as last year)
7.
(can't put this and Romania next after each other, and probably not Moldova and Romania either...best to put this one here.
8.
(Something has to be put between the "rockish" songs, and why not a contender then?)
9.
(Rockish song that is a nice continuation from the first half)
10.
(Battles perhaps with Malta for voters)
11.
(Feels like the most suitible choice, also keeping the ex-ussr voters on their toes.
12.
(Could fit almost anywhere)
13.
(The most divisive song of the semi is needed here.)
-BREAK- (People cheering or swearing over the Hungarian song)
14.
(need a little extra time to arrange the strobelights)
15.
(fights with Georgia for the same voters perhaps)
16.
(Keep the swedes interested, so why not put an another swede on stage?)
17.
(could fight with Montenegro for the same votes)
18.
(Need to end uptempo, and with a pretty divisive beat, this might be the most suitible one.)
So this is what I think...and I am probably wrong, but it is fun to theorize at least.
