As it stands it's the nicest song we have so far but once we hear the remaining 36 I'm sure that it wouldn't be the case then. It's decent enough, but Netherlands won't be replicating any recent success

Are we listening to the same song? I find it super repetitive and just a normal bog standard pop song. There is nothing extroidanary about this song at all and if it wins I will eat my own hat. I think it's alright, I'm glad it's nothing like her normal music which is just so boring. I feel kinda let down to be honest though still because its not as good as previous efforts. The Netherlands appears to be the hype country this year...

Edit: also they seemed and tried to force the catchiness onto it with the whole II i I I iii uuuuhhh ohhh bit and it just doesn't seem to have worked at all.

I actually think the song is quite good! Its not as good as "Calm After the Storm" or "Birds", but its still a high quality song. My only problem also lies in the chorus with the "I I I I". I thinks its a bit of a cheap eurovision trick to make it sound catchy, but for me it does work though. And if you think this is a standard pop song, then how can you support the entry of :mt:. That is as generic as a poppy, screamy eurovision entry can be. And if people think it's Generic, rather have a very good generic song (like Sanne Nielsen last year) than a crappy original song ;)

This song got me on the hook right from the start. OMG, it's so much better than I thought it would be. Maybe less sophisticated than their previous two songs, but catchier and her voice is so big and straight.

Sounds a bit like Taylor Swift, which is a good sign I guess.

I already see this song in the winner's reprise at the end of the final.

Oh Gosh, I hope the Dutch won't be disappointed in the end, because I think their hopes are very high this time.

Wow, I thought Post-Eurovision Depression is a bad thing, but now I am sure.

Wow, I'm pleasantly surprised by the song :D Well done Trijntje!

Last year when Calm after the Storm was released everyone thought it sucked and look what happened... So I'm happy I like this song now and hopefully she can do well in Vienna, although it will be very hard to equal or better last year's result.

I don't know what you're on about because I don't have PED at all. I got over it months ago... :?

Not so keen on this right now. 'Bird' and "CATS' were the perls, they had something amazing in them. 'Walk Alone' is just a meh. This 'ai-ai-ai' sounds are just terrible. Right now I see this flopping so bad. It's just another radio song.

And if you think this is a standard pop song, then how can you support the entry of Malta

Quite an efficient song. Would be perfect for the credits of a movie in my opinion. The Netherlands will get a third finale for sure. I prefer this song over Birds for example.

Apparently you are fine, because to pick on other countries' songs requires strength and endurance.

I just feel like we are back at the British tradition of self-indulgence and bashing the others. I just hope for y'all that you are not too delusional yet again, just because Eurovision is set in Vienna, where UK harvested its first victory. History and magic won't help, unless you have a major song. (Engelbert and Molly were not majors, Bonnie could have been, but she sang like drunk)

So long, the Netherlands are in for the win (although I underestimated their chances at first)

You were one of the few, if I remember correctly. So much depends on the staging that it's not really possible to say how this will go in the semis, and if it will reach the final. It's not a bad song, it's catchy, and if the performance and the staging is good, it could get quite far. It's not really my cup of tea, but I'm not so crazy about Trijntje anyway.

Why do us Brits on this forum always get unfairly judged? Just because we don't like some songs apparently we're just flaunting 'superiority' over others...

I take great offence at that comment. How dare you sit there and call me out on not loving and hyping the song while you don't too others with the same opinion as me. Just because I'm British automatically means Im not allowed criticise any other entries because of how tragic our entries have been, and suddenly we are delusional and self indulging because we have hope we might actually get a decent entry for 2015. For the first time in years the UK had an entry to proud off, and it wasn't just Brits hyping Molly up. And with that logic you have shown then you shouldnt be allowed to have an opinion because of how awful the Czech entries were. And please point out where I bashed Malta and Macedonians entry?

I just don't get how PED and being judgmental and negative on others can go hand in hand, unless PED is a mixed result of not having won and fearing of not being competitive next time. And it's a documented fact how the British forumers are all out for their own songs all the time, even when these got no hook at all.

I wouldn't blame the Dutch song for 2015 for its catchiness, since that is something COTD lacked entirely. A song that goes right into the ear and pleases there, can well be a winner y'all.

Now that the first acts finally get revealed, it's time to get excited, not anxious.

btw. well, why would someone bash Malta or Macedonia, when no one feels challenged by their entries?

But nobody's said anything about PED, you're linking something that isn't there to an opinion that isn't actually true?

British people are a surprisingly optimistic bunch, and we're by and large quite patriotic on this forum. None of our recent songs since 2011 have been total trainwrecks (UK 2010 was the worst entry ever) so excuse us for giving them at least some praise.

Swedish and formerly Turkish fans do the exact same thing and nobody bats an eyelid.

Funny UK 2014 should be mentioned in another context, because I get similar vibes to that from the Dutch 2015 entry. Both songs are clearly made to please a large crowd to some extent and anger as few as possible (with the difference this song wasn't composed specifically for ESC), but this has more radio potential - whether or not that's a good thing is anyone's opinion, but it could work. However, the staging needs to be Netherlands 2014-level in order for the song to do well, as they definitely can't rely too much on the song to do the work for them. If it's like, say, UK 2014, this won't go anywhere.

A lot will be down to the staging, and also down to where in the show this song is heard. I doubt it's going to open the semi, but a position like that would be disastrous. Also, if there are many easily listenable songs this year, this won't stand out. It can, of course, be debated whether it'll stand out in any way no matter what. Of course it doesn't mean anything at this point, but the songs selected this far are all generic. :?

Random prediction: sounds like a position in the final, but hardly a spectacular result there.
