I don't think we will win, but it would be nice if we did. Still, it'll be very nice to see the bloodbath. I love it when things can go many ways. Keeps everyone on their toes and makes it that the more interesting to watch.

Yeah, you never know.. I could be wrong (let's hope!). But I'm still kind of concerned about the politics though. I don't see any other countries besides the UK, Germany, Belgium and Scandinavia giving us high points.

UK, Belgium, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Lithuania, Latvia & Estonia, will probably give us at least 8 points each. That's already 88 points. ;)

owww I like your 6th point very much...I was thinking the same thing!!!

Why do I think the Netherlands can win the Eurovision Song Contest 2014?

1. The Common Linnets set a new standard.
2. Compared to their performance, the performances of some other countries now looks like some kind of gimmick.
3. Because they were considered to be a dark horse for a long time they are able to make use of the element of surprise.
4. Their performance is stunning, personal and full of emotions.
5. The song is of a high quality, as are their voices.
6. For 3 minutes people at home forget they are watching the Eurovision Song Contest.
7. Allready before the first semi-final, Calm after the Storm was expected to collect most of the jury votes.
8. In the final The Common Linnets perform in the second part of the show.
9. Long before the first semi-final the song was considered to be a 'grower', and now the song is 'growing' on a lot of people in Europe.
10. I read somewhere that a mother of someone has predicted the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest for a few years in a row correctly. When she heard Calm after the Storm for the first time on the radio she immediately said this song will win the song contest this year.

I will definitely vote for them from Armenia, but I really don't think that our jury will allow them to earn high points... But they deserve to be in Top-5 at least.

By the way: the 'Common Linnets' kind of reminded my of 'Mazzy Star', an alternative folk/dream pop group from The United States. You guys should check some songs, perhaps you'll also like it, although it is less poppy.

Why do you think that?

Perhaps because 1) Armenia will give high points to their neighbour countries which the Netherlands obviously isn't and 2) Armenia is a high contender, so they will be giving higher points to less-known acts so they will remain higher in the result charts.

The odds are still shortening. Yesterday I wanted to subscribe to one of those betting offices when it was still 8/1. Today it's gone up to 4.5-4 / 1, I see. Looks like I'm a bit too late. Armenia's odds are drifting (now 3.5-4 /1) Sweden atill at 1 with 2.5-2 /1. :nl: is getting closer to the second position in the overall odds.

Joking aside, I'm glad to see so many people in a recently unsuccessful Eurovision country take such an interest. Hopefully Portugal will have an uberhyped entry next.

And yes, I think I will stick around for some time - being a fan of the show since I was like.. 8? :D I just haven't really discovered a good ESC forum untill I did some research yesterday.
