For years, one question has captivated escYOUnited users, been the subject of debate after debate after debate, taken this world by storm, pitted neighbor against neighbour, built rivalries, mended friendships, broken those same friendships...it puts "fuckin juries, how do they work?" and "did Ireland deserve all their wins?"* to shame. And that question is...

Is Måns Zelmerlöw homophobic?

I'm inclined to go with a qualified "no." Yes, he did indeed do a stupid on that cooking show (jfc, how on earth did "gay people: natural or nah?" come up on a cooking show) in 2014. But whether his subsequent years of affection shown to the LGBTQ community is a genuine attempt at penance or a cynical PR move is, about a decade on, kind of a distinction without a difference to me.

HOWMSTEVER, in this moment where I was saying things like "y'know, it's not like I'm a big Måns fan, but I do hope he comes up with something that can sweep away these BS joke entries infesting the top of the odds," he has instead chosen to give us--give ME--a piece of AI-generated slop that he seems to, on some level, know is dull and reheated. He sounded significantly more invested singing about love, love, peace, and peace. "Style over substance" gives, in my mind, too much credit to the style. Some of the shots genuinely look actively bad. The disappointment he has brought unto me is inordinate. Speaking through my lived experiences as an LGBTQ person, I feel very attacked. So in this sense, yes. Yes he is.

*No, of course not, 2/7, tops.

The press seem hyped about Vilhelm Buchaus and Scarlet, I'm excited to see what Vilhelm could bring to the table. His single Dying Light is amazing.

Oh no, I caught Kaj by accident, and I like it. I do not want investment in Mello, that always, always ends badly for me

As for the whole "Mans is winning Eurovision!" - I'd wait for a few more of the Internals first. France and Czechia could easily be great Songs, both artists can sing, both broadcasters can stage kinda well. To a lesser extent Netherlands and Cyprus. And there is still Josh from Portugal, if he wins FdC (vocals are great, staging can be improved). I do not see Mans winning Eurovision yet.

This feels like another Anders Bagge situation except there is no Cornelia Jacobs to snatch the win. They're pretty much letting the other acts have their fun and play without their controllers connected.

Also, the 5 semi split is making this year feel even worse than it already is.

I'm a Finn that hasn't stepped into a sauna since I was like 5 'cause the heat made me feel like I couldn't breathe and I got scared. That being said I beg Sweden to send Bara Bada Bastu to Eurovision. It's the best thing I've heard from Mello since like 2020 and I can't stop listening to it. 😭🙏

Revolution is so dated, like this Aviici sound isn't a thing anymore lol. But yeah with that staging, and the narrative of him coming back he has it in the bag. But it's just crazy to me it's a song contest and a song like this will win which doesn't actively reflect what people are listening to or streaming. But I'm sure I'll be wrong and this will end up being a hit like Heroes, even though it sounds so so so dated lol.

Not really a fan of Mans but after getting to watch his performance yesterday I have to say ... that I can hardly imagine him losing Melodifestivalen.
