"Frozen" is my favourite song by Madonna - No second of Loreen´s leaked performance made me think of that song...

(after reading your comment and watching the snippet again, I understand where you´re coming from.. but it´s just that "strings" sound "similar" if there´s just long notes (and no other instruments at the same time).)
yea i was talking about the string, the first few seconds of the snippet sound very similar to the strings in frozen around the 3 minute mark

You´re definitely right - I didn´t pay attention to it at first because the whole visuals were so overwhelming.
I don´t think it´s a "copy", though - or that she and her team even took inspiration from it - it´s just strings being strings.. but yeah, that was a moment in "Frozen" (one of the best pop (?) songs of all times!)

Well I'm really sold. Is it the best song in the world? No. But from what we know currently, Loreen would be the act to beat in May.
And there aren't much countries left from which we haven't heard at least a snippet or the songs from their national finals.
I don't really see an act that has the potential to do well with the jury and televote similarly to Loreen. The jury will eat her up.

The full song is just okay. I like Euphoria more. Tbh I like almost all of her entries more than this. Maybe it's better than Statements. But the performance looks really great especially the middle 8/ending. Wow! This does look like a potential winner and it would be crazy if Loreen wins again. Sweden is currently over 10% ahead of Ukraine in the odds.

So having listened to the whole Tattoo song I can safely conclude what I already suspected. It's a medley of several old and well known songs and melodies put together. Not a single note sounds fresh or original. Great vocal apparatus, without any special characteristic to speak of, lyrics a bunch of clichés, just like Euphoria was at its time . Amazing staging, but as much as I love a good staging it cannot substitute the song. Very catchy, but annoyingly so, at the moment I just wish those uh uh uhs out of my head. I'm sure it will be super successful but it's definitely not for me.

I really want to like this, like I did for "My Heart Is Refusing Me", "Euphoria", and even "Statements", but "Tattoo" is an average song. It starts off great and slowly builds and then just doesn't go anywhere special. And Loreen's vocals on this actually annoys me a little, rhyming youuuu with tattoooo, I hate that part.
I would love to jump on the hype train for this and eventually see Sweden pick up their 7th win, so they can have the joint most Eurovision wins, but I hope this year is not it if Sweden chooses this song.

I agree, Tattoo isn't anything special and it pales in comparison to her previous three entries.

The ending of the performance, though, is amazing xheat. Literally the entire stage on smoke and fire.

Euphoria was basic but it did have some storytelling and Hold Me Closer had obvious storytelling. This feels like a mashup of generic lyrics without really going anywhere. I don't understand how the panini press staging matches the lyrics... but whatever, I'm sure it will do well.

"My Heart Is Refusing Me", "Euphoria" and even "Statements" are superior to "Tattoo" - I agree on that statement (even though I haven't heard the full studio version of "Tattoo" yet) but I still believe that it´s the best song :se: has to offer this year and knowing how (vocally) great Loreen as a performer really is, I think that she can definitely attract a lot of voters and juries alike.

The snippet of the rehearsals is absolutely captivating and mesmerising, though - probably the most unique staging (and the most "artsy-fartsy" and visually stunning one) we´ve seen in this NF season and therefore, it would clearly enrich Eurovision in May as whole.
I don´t need to see it winning (IF she wins Melodifestivalen....!) since I already prefer a few other entries this year but it would be some great exposure for both - ESC and Loreen - to see her make a comeback!

The song´s lyrics are a bit "generic" if you really want to use that word but it´s still a pop song (they don´t require the most unique and refreshing lyrics, aynway) but we´ve seen tons of worse lyrics this year... usually, I hate too many "ooo--oohs" parts but I don´t think they are annoying in this song (they are quite limited as well).

@ESC_Peggy

It´s about the desire of being loved - "being attached to someone like a tattoo" even if there are some "struggles" to overcome (that´s why the first verse is about leaving the one you love.. but it´s not really a break-up song because she sings about the opportunities and destiny to come together in the near future).

Whose idea was it to hire Cazzi Opeia as a songwriter, I can swear it was her idea to insert you-ho-ho in the lyrics. It is just offputting and brings unnecessary camp to a song that could otherwise sound somewhat high quality.

It's 80% Loreen's charm and staging aesthetics that elevate this. As the song stands on its own, it's on par with a lackluster Mariette attempt from the past 5 years, maybe 'Shout it out'.

Where is the chorus sis? We know you are great and you can elevate whatever you are given, but it's such a pity that this staging is wasted on such a non-event song.

However, in my opinion, taking away those you-ho-hos would make it less flavored/easily forgettable, since the 'you' or 'tattoo' lacks catchiness if left unaccentuated. Those chants could also give Loreen some breathing time before another belting.

About the chorus, though. Some problems I often found with these Melfest-produced songs are the way the first choruses were 'building up' without climax - this usually happens with mid-tempo songs. It might be an effect of the 3-minute mark, but it happens too often that we really are, in need of new composers and ideas so this kind of composition trend could be less often found.

Wow I was … bored

No artistic value at all. Just a bombastic noise and staging for a very bland song with derivative lyrics.
Horrible season. Air is the best of the bunch, an unapologetic fresh bop.

Jon Lundvik and Jon Hendrik Fjällgren are the best what Sweden has to offer at this moment. They didn’t invent music neither but it’s heartfelt and pure. And I love them to bits.

but please Sweden, send Loreen, go and win ESC and I will be finally cured from the stupid ESC fever that plagued me for the last 30 years. #setmefree

I don’t know if that was because of the video quality but for me she sounds off the whole time. I mean, it’s not an easy song to sing with all the high and low notes going on, but I can’t really see the juries eating it up with these vocals.

About the song, I’ve said that before but I don’t get all the hype around it. With that I don’t mean it’s a bad song, but certainly I don’t think it’s the best in this selection and, therefore, I reckon she would be an undeserved winner for Esc 2023.

The tattoo thing feels like the follow-up to an No.1 debut song which misses the Top 10 and drops out of the charts in 3 weeks while the successful debut song is still inside the Top 40.
