I understand not liking the song (I’m lukewarm on it myself) but to claim that tattoos staging has no artistic value is just bizarre
Well I guess those LED were expensive so that makes them valuable since the stage is a bore

Wow I was … bored

No artistic value at all. Just a bombastic noise and staging for a very bland song with derivative lyrics.
Horrible season. Air is the best of the bunch, an unapologetic fresh bop.

Jon Lundvik and Jon Hendrik Fjällgren are the best what Sweden has to offer at this moment. They didn’t invent music neither but it’s heartfelt and pure. And I love them to bits.

but please Sweden, send Loreen, go and win ESC and I will be finally cured from the stupid ESC fever that plagued me for the last 30 years. #setmefree

When you say that John Lundvik is the best Sweden has to offer... you lose me completely haha.

It has artistic value but Loreen has a massive staging budget giving her that advantage. Both songs are mediocre Loreen rhymes Pain with Rain and repeats the ‘chorus’ 5 times while M&M rhyme Oceans with Emotions. In UMK the staging budget is the equal for everyone.

True. But Cornelia won over Anders last year quite easily. And I'd say there was more hype for Anders than it is for Maria and there's also probably more hype for Loreen than there was for Cornelia.
Well, the juries helped out also. Yet Anders still won the televote (which was kinda my point), but he is very famous in Sweden (love how they tried to sell a sob story though "famous rich guy having stage fright")

I absolutely agree with you in this point. Why should a stage be instantly artictic? Just because there is a huge thing standing on stage and Loreen squirms beneath it? People are so easily to be satisfied!

Its Eurovision, she doesnt need to paint Mona Lisa on stage. The standards of eurofans for Loreen are in Heaven, while at the same time they stan Ronelas performance for San Marino. At this moment, literally any other country would kill for Loreens song and performance, apart maybe from Finland who has something fresh and a big televote hitter in their hands.

What's wrong with putting effort into staging? (Or maybe you meant the opposite, a bit confused?) xshrug

The pressure is clearly high on Loreen, but I would look at this way. Is it the best entry MF has to offer this year? (I think yes, it's really not a tough competition considering most entries are shite), and as far as ESC goes, we will have to wait and see. Comparing years makes little sense, it's comparing to what the competition looks like here and now that matters. She isn't going to go back and compete with this song in 2012 now is she?

I'll reserve my judgement until I've seen and heard the full package. What I will say is that arty-farty staging will not bump up a mediocre pop song for me.

Fun staging, on the other hand...

Big Loreen fan ("Statements" was robbed back then - can`t change my mind) here but I have to admit that the chorus especially seems a bit underwhelming. The performance seems entertaining though.

Yeah, the whole song is a massive "built-up" and creates an impressive atmosphere full of suspense without an explosion. I think that the 3-minute-rule is holding it back.
But I will probably be amazed after seeing the whole performance, anyway...

The song is bad, so yeah it would be undeserved.

Sounds like a jESC ballad blended with the most clichéd ESC ballads from mid 00s (and not the good ones). It's extremely basic and generic.
Actually, some professor from Gothenburg University recently presented research on what it takes to win ESC and one thing he noted was that the JESC songs were more creative/innovative since the kids, unlike the adults, weren't trying too hard to fit into a mold or certain abstract criteria or whatever. Not sure if I agree but I could see that he has a point

I’m sure SVT has a sob story in place for Loreen.
She didn't need one in 2012 so you can take your negative ass somewhere else. This fandom is so gross I swear

What strikes me as really weird is that , good as the staging may be, it is in fact extremely similar to the one she had 11 years ago. Similar dance moves, similar flying hair, similar board to stand on, same wild witch vibes. Everything seems quite the same, bar, (and it's a big bar though), the ceiling board above it. It surely makes a difference , but is it enough? Is Sweden of all countries really going to repeat a trick? I'm not buying it. I guess in the end they might be better off with Air, which is a much more radio friendly song, with lots of commercial potential. The twins are a gimmick in themselves and the boys are extremely likeable.

I'm sorry, but I just can't get on the Loreen hype train this year. I still listen to "Euphoria" sometimes, but the overconfidence of many Eurofans have driven me over the edge regarding "Tattoo". I know it may be harsh to some of you, but this is how I feel

I

I mean compare it to the staging of any other melfest song it’s clearly of at least some artistic value
Nothing wrong in that actually, but I personally think that her song doesn't reach the level o "Euphoria" at all. The song is nothing special. The staging might elevate it to some people, but for me it simply doesn't. And it surprises me that so many people go nuts. xshrug

I like songs that I want to listen too, not songs that I need to watch to enjoy. Visual attention hoes to the left. Ima gonna indulge me in some Sobral.

last years top 3 are all utterly listenable. but a tepid song with an extravagant staging does nothing for me.

I agree that from what I have heard Euphoria is a lot better, I have never claimed otherwise the only thing I have said is contested the idea that Tattoo's staging has no artistic value because it clearly does even if you do not like it visually
