Sweden/Scandinavia are the powerhouses of pop music, a lot of the hits we hear on an everyday basis are written by norwegians/swedes and basically, that's what they send to the ESC. That's a no brainer for me why they're performing so well with jurors even when I don't like the songs (2015, 2016,2020 for example).

This is so funny to me. I remember being so proud of Scandinavia and our dark rock scene... Especially Finland and Norway were known for our dark, gothic metal and amazing indie/industrial rock bands like Madrugada.

Electronica is very big in Norway still. More so than in the other Nordic countries, I think. We often have elements of it in our ESC songs.

When did Norway become so "poppy"? I guess we follow big brother Sweden, as per usual;)

I guess in life there needs to be balance, its true in 2012 she had heavy and sole support, this year she wasnt the fans 1st favourite, but 2nd. Your favourite not winning is always hurting but I think it could have been helped much if Käärija would have been a better loser and sincerely congratulated her for the win right after, but he felt entitled to win so he couldnt do it. If he would have accepted the lose, stay humble, have empathy towards her and be happy about the success he had his fans would behave better too I think...

Anyways I hope they change the system to 100% televote because I'm so tired of this complaining, then people will have to accept the result because its 100% their choice... And I have had my favourites tanked too, for example KEiiNO was painful... But in 2015 and 2016 I was very happy with winners and that thanks to juries we were saved from Russia.

Anyways, Loreen performing today in Sweden:

Pitch perfect. It's ridiculous how good her singing is, and she's probably fatigued too.

I start to agree... I now want 100% televote too just to see people complaining about having 100% televote and whining the vote is not equal and not fair anyway...

Televoting will never be fair but at least countries have a chance to send such a banger that televoters vote for them instead of their neighbour country.
Juries can vote for whoever they want and get away with it ;)

So in case 100% televote vs 100% jury I would still choose televote. But the best solution would be one with most power to the people but juries preventing stratregical voting (which is funny because juries neighbour-voting themselves the most).

So my thinking regarding the Swedish win is this:
Congrats to my neighbors! Your song is quality and I dread the day juries possibly will be gone (hopefully won't happen).

Having said this my heart wanted any other artist with a quality act. But as "half a musician" (not a musician myself but surrounded by them/write about them;)) I am a perfectionist and Finland's vocals did bother me a bit.

My thinking: In the end I had Sweden higher in my rankings than Finland based on my perfectionism. I also don't like pop, but dark pop like this is more my thing. Sweden my number 3 and Finland around 7. I also liked just the first half of Finland's song (LOVED it!). The second part was too sweet for me. But I adore Kaarija so much more:love:

My controversial (?) feelings: I feel an anticlimax. I don't enjoy this win. The reason is not the song, not the artist, not the country Sweden (which I love). It's the fact she won before. I really don't like returning winners. I know many will jump on me for this, but I can't help how I feel. I don't mind returning artists, as long as they didn't take the trophy on their last try. If the goal is taking the trophy (as it should be)... I can't for the life of me understand the need to do it twice. I didn't like it when Rybak tried either. It looked pathetic to be honest and he lost a lot of star power. Loreen is different as she's wise enough to come with a high quality song.

But I still don't understand the need and would've liked to see the joy on a newcommer's face. That's what I missed this time around (I don't care for the "first woman winning twice" argument as I don't see women as lesser in the first place).

A quality song - Tattoo - won. Probably rightfully so. Even though I would argue there were a couple just as good acts outside of Finland who didn't get the jury score they deserved. I do see a "Sweden bias" in the juries. Loreen deserved to win the the juries, but not with such a monsterous margin...

"You either die a hero or see yourself become a villain" (the word villain is used very loosely)

Loreen's 2012 was universally accepted and loved, but this one will always open a can of worms when mentioned. It's not her fault, of course, Sweden only become a big jury threat after 2012 and this year's jury score was the last drop for a lot of fans.

Sorry but this is nonsense, ESC is over and no one really cares anymore apart from the hardcore fandom, and even between them this will fade away pretty soon. Kaarija's stans will just move on, either from stanning Kaarija or from hating Loreen. By the time Sweden hosts next year, everyone will chant for her, exactly like it happened with Jamala and Mans. And no, a '' her win was rigged for Abba '' xfacepalm tweet with 29 likes wont matter.
As for the '' was universally loved but now....'', Loreen didnt have a career outside Sweden after her first album. Now she's having a huge hit again and the title of '' 2 times ESC winner '' under her name

Exactly! Like people who wanted Foureira as the winner didnt hate on Netta ( even tho Netta won the tele ), or Channel stans didnt hate on Ukraine ( although she was just 3rd in the tele ). People love to hate and jumb on hate wagons, they will always find reasons to do so.

Everyone saw this coming. I like the song but winning like this isn't fair. I'm not sure this isn't fair to Loreen herself either because she should be rewarded for her sheer talent and not because Sweden is overrated. :(

If the finnish Public didnt vote tactically, she would be the only ESC-Winner without a single 0 besides Mans.

Ah these blames on Finnish public voting tactically. Perhaps 14 juries were voting tactically to not giving Finland any points?;)

I know right?
People ruling out juries maybe were a little biased towards Sweden and voting tactically, calling it "all conspiracy theories" but Finland televote? "Yes, definitely rigged by voting tactically".

So sweet.
I am wondering, was Slovenian and Danish televoters voting tactically in 2018, when they didn't give any televote points to Israel? (this is just a joke, but comparing this situation about "Finnish tactically vote".
