There are People who hated Finland in the begining, but when they realised, only Finland can prevent Sweden from winning, they suddenly became Fans.
Yeah, people all across Europe pretend to like a song they don't like and will spend money to make a song they don't really like win just because they hate Sweden. Sounds like a really good explanation on people having different taste; if they don't like the same song as you it is because they pretend to, and the hidden truth is that it is because this song comes from Sweden. Have you heard about earth is flat and middle age never existed? There are People who hated Finland in the begining, but when they realised, only Finland can prevent Sweden from winning, they suddenly became Fans.
Oh, he does understand that there are different tastes, he only thinks he knows them better than the people having them.Oh, come on. People liking other songs doesn't mean "swedophobia". It's really strange that you are in this forum and don't understand that people have different tastes.
To be fair I do like Finland more as it is up against evil always overrated and automatic plot armor Sweden. This is no different than preferring one football team over the other because they are the underdog and thinking anyone who supportsYeah, people all across Europe pretend to like a song they don't like and will spend money to make a song they don't really like win just because they hate Sweden. You’re not wrong. Finland is also the astrological darling at this point. They won the audience polls massive landslides. I think they are in for a seismic Televote.I'm surprised shes still #1 in the odds, i think the narrative is pretty clear that the (Underdog) finland is going to win it.
He's getting the most positive media coverage, his pic seems to get used much more that loreens if u look at Website articles (my impression) and outside the esc bubble i notice the response to Finland is very postive and to sweden it is not. But yea maybe i'm wrong
Yeah, I think that there is also an underdog factor making things more exciting to follow if you don't rule for a strong favourite, but it is just a side factor. If you really despise Finland song you won't spend money voting for it. And I believe that casual viewers (the vast majority) will just vote for whatever they like!To be fair I do like Finland more as it is up against evil always overrated and automatic plot armor Sweden. But yes generally your argument holds. It is just a factor for some. Taste is ultimately key.
Beside the underdog factor, there might also be the „let‘s finally have the first woman who wins twice“-factor or the „it‘s time someone catches up with Ireland“- factor or even the „I would vote for anything Loreen sings because it‘s LOREEN“-factor. So both of them have those additional factors on their side which evens it out and at the end of the day it comes down to liking or disliking of a song when people vote.Yeah, I think that there is also an underdog factor making things more exciting to follow if you don't rule for a strong favourite, but it is just a side factor. This! But all of them - I think - are far behind the genuine liking or disliking of a song when it comes to voting.
What if Sweden gets a wake up call instead? Always the bridesmaid never the bride. Then Luxembourg comes back and pulls off a sixth win, France could pull off a sixth win already this year. And then I promised that as EBU Executive I would give the 1991 win to France also. Maybe Sweden finally collapses under the weight of not winning because there is always someone more creative and popular. And before Loreen 2012, Sweden was just a struggling country like any other and more humble.I want Sweden to win because tieing with Ireland's 7 would be the final well needed wake up call for Ireland so maybe they'll send folksy celtic influenced maybe slightly ethereal stuff with amazing vocals next year that like, really vibes and get out of their '1 qualification in 10 years and europe hates us" rut. Also I want Sweden to host. Sweden is a good host.
I also genuinely like Tattoo, and don't feel much for Finland. I don't HATE Kaarija's thing but I don't find it aesthetically pleasing, a bit chaotic and I like my some loud belting vocals and ballad influence.
Edit: before anyone comes at me, I understand why people would like Finland tho, I guess it's fun, it just isn't for me and it didn't sufficiently grow on me like previous year's more "fun" entries did (like Shum, which I liked a lot in the end), and I'd rather not have it win.
Wake up call for what....? Consistently putting in effort and actually caring? I haven't liked al their recent entries either, but it is clearly one of the more motivated esc participants. What if Sweden gets a wake up call instead? Always the bridesmaid never the bride. It’s steamrolling Eurovision with their executive power. They are the Lannisters but they don’t have dragons.Wake up call for what....? Consistently putting in effort and actually caring? I haven't liked al their recent entries either, but it is clearly one of the more motivated esc participants.
