That sounds like a really terrible hangover. It starts foggy, she's not yet clear about everything. The LED show a sandstorm resembling inner turmoil and pain.
The press itself is claustrophobic and keeping her down but it starts lifting as she is getting more and more in tune with her feelings. She starts having glimmers of hope that in the end everything will work out with her loved one, resembled by the light shining behind her at certain parts in the chorus, that dims when she starts singing the verse, when she is again trying to get a better grasp at what is going on inside her.
In the second verse the storm gets more intense, she wants to get a hold of it and grasp it but it just starts twirling, getting more confusing and intense. But she refuses to be hold down by it and actively starts fighting and lifting what is holding her down. She doesn't care about how it hurts, she fights these negative feelings, she is in love and won't let the pain hold her down.
In the end it's fully lifting. She can take a deep breath again, the fog starts lifting, she has a calmer mind and can now really start to understand everything. Not being held back anymore, with the storm fading and bright lights of hope shining brighter and brighter she sings the last climactic chorus.
The setting of a desert is a reference to her moroccan roots, with the symbols probably also meaning something but I haven't seen a translation anywhere. The imagery isn't random, it's tailored towards her personal background.
Considering that Loreen is bisexual it could also be that she is singing about her love for a woman, the gender of the person she loves is never specified. Giving more meaning to the storm and inner turmoil and feelings of being held down by an intolerant society and feeling a strong love that is forbidden, a relationship that may never be because whoever she loves doesn't want to come out and be openly together with her.
There are things you can interpret into everything she does on that stage. It's not meaningless. And as we've seen with "Statements" Loreen is very much an artists that thinks about these things.
Fandom hype ... I remember that the fandom went crazy for Cyprus in 2018 and it felt like Israel got left behind a little in the fandom hype, yet Israel won with 100+ points over CyprusI'm one of those who say that Finland is more likely to win because of Sweden's staging seems disappointing and hype around Finland increases but let's not forget when the rehearsals were taking place for 2018 the reactions for Netta's staging were bad and everyone was hyping Foureira. Duncan didn't have good reactions during the rehearsals either.
Agree with everything youve said here but the vocals because of course they wont be on the level of mello for just a rehearsal, these rehearsals are much more about learning where to look and when than knocking it out of the park vocally every timeIt's not only the size for me, but also the projection on it seems very dull in comparison to the LED in Melodifestivalen.
Not to mention the lights are too bright, the whole mystic vibe is gone.
Also judging from the short clip, her vocals are not as impressive as in Mello.
But I still think she will win. After all, the final product is not a magestic flop. The arena will go eclectic when she performs and the energy will also reflect to the viewers. Another big indicator is that all former and current participants already started covering Tattoo. I expect an overwhelming jury support, and perhaps a narrow 2nd place in the televote.
Do I think she is the best/most deserving act to hold the trophy? No.
But c'est la vie.
I agree, it's become my most streamed song on Spotify ever (since 2011). When I think back at the jury winners/runner-ups I just don't see how they're not going to give her close to 300 pointsUntill 2022 I considered Euphoria the best ESC entry ever, now Tattoo has surpased it for me, people can say its basic or whatever, for me it will be a crime if this track doesn't win ESC.
France is the safest of all. Watch them winning.I think she's still winning easily. Even with her shakey vocals and unflattering close up shots, and that big bezel on the top led France is getting overhyped massively.
Wouldnt it be amazing if Sweden opened the grand final and prove to the world that Running Order dont matter?
Tattoo isn't really an opening number though. "Cha Cha Cha" on the other hand ...Wouldnt it be amazing if Sweden opened the grand final and prove to the world that Running Order dont matter?
Great idea but that might add another 30 minutes onto the whole thing, which is now 4 hours long, usuallyI think they should introduce a voting break after the first half. And after the second half people can only vote for the songs of the second half for the same time. And then open the lines for all songs. Maybe it would ease the recency bias.
I might be completely wrong. But in 2017 during the exact same time in the season, Italy was the big favourite to win, with Bulgaria and Sweden being the other hot favourites. Portugal was still rising in the odds. We've been there before, why is it impossible to happen again?
If Käärijä doesn't sound better live, he won't be near the Top 5 in the jury. And Loreen's chances with the televote are crumbling cause the staging doesn't translate well with the small press, leaving a large opening for someone else (being 2nd and 3rd in the categories is enough to win). Loreen's chances in the odds are dropping as we speak, the bookies are losing confidence. But people will keep betting on her cause she's an obvious choice, therefore she will remain higher up in the odds.
