I'm kind of glad we didn't win. Too Late For Love is not a winner-worthy song. It would've been weird if it was up there with Euphoria and Heroes

Well I think it's weird Heroes is up there with Euphoria  Too Late for Love is way more professional if you ask me. But nothing comes close to Euphoria of course.

Actually, Sweden was 2nd in the jury voting. The Belarussian jury vote was replaced by the BOTTOM 10 average votes of Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia. These scores were total bullshit, an utter fraud. Due to this, North Macedonia lost 10 points and Sweden 2 points. The 8 point difference is enough for North Macedonia to be the fair jury vote winner 2019.

So, the sad face in the end would not have been John's but Tamara's.

It's a win for Tamara that was the case. She had a sour face getting 58 points, it would've been 5x worse on her if there was a picture of her and Duncan in the end, she really would've thought she had a 50/50 chance to win

I don’t know who you watched, but all I saw was a woman who was happy she even got so far...

Yes, I'm pretty sure that Tamara was like, judging from her face; "Aww that's too unfortunate but anyway I got a really good result and I'm in the top ten"

To me it seems everyone in Sweden is pleased with John, the Mamas and the team. No one really counted on a win, a fact which was pretty obvious on Friday, not saying we didn't go for a win though. The talk of Swedish sour faces here is just the same old grudge as always. I would also say there is ZERO support among people to change the format of Melodifestivalen. Christer Björkman has the people's total support to manage Melodifestivalen and his likely successor Karin Gunnarsson will struggle to reach the same confidence. She will have to prove herself first and that will be exciting, but don't count on any dramatic changes the next 10 years. Of course, as always there are the odd fans with other ideas, but for the average Swede (~50%) the thing is pretty straightforward and the consensus solid (the other 50% doesn't care a bit and want to cancel esc asap).

Sweden was overrated by the juries as always. I mean I can't understand how they ranked him above the Netherlands, Italy, Australia etc. But at least this year they got a decent result in the televote this year (9th place). Seeing his face however in the end broke my heart :(

Why not? A top 10 song that did better with juries. And if you ask me i believe that John was underrated by juries. Can you believe that Benjamin last year got more votes from juries than John? That's injustice.

Uhm... how can you finish FIRST in the juries and be underrated?

This is simply not true. There is plenty of general disgruntled feelings out there. I see it on Facebook, I see it on Twitter, I see it on Instagram. I hear it among friends and I hear it among family members. People who have always loved and enjoyed Melodifestivalen but have felt the overall quality slipping, especially the past few years. The majority might be OK with the way things are going, but to say that there is zero support for change or that Christer Björkman has total support is false. I mean, SVT themselves are even asking for the Swedish public's help to make Melodifestivalen better.

You have made it your entire mission on this forum to prove that Sweden is/Swedes are persecuted and everyone thinks they do everything wrong, and now you're saying that everyone loves Sweden and thinks they do everything right? Spare me.

I think he's saying that everyone in Sweden loves Sweden and Melodifestivalen and that Christer Björkman does everything perfectly in the eyes of Swedes. Which is still not true, though.

I said the format, meaning substantial changes in the organisation of the program. My impression is almost everyone is very restrictive to any changes and continuity is the most important. That said, the program is also everyone's favourite subject of complaints of pretty much anything of the content. That aspect is normal, expected and part of the concept. Most people just want to have a great show according to tradition. If anything, the category of people not caring at all is increasing fast and I think we should be happy if there is half of the viewers of today in future shows. I don't believe changing the format will change these people's attitude and I think the same is happening all around Europe.

interest in eurovision is growing in multiple countries. it's decreasing in sweden because things there have gotten boring as fuck. which brings us back to the same old point: christer björkman retire bitch

No I can't believe that Swedish song from last year got any points and neither could the viewers on TV, considering how poorly they rated him.

Aye indeed, this doesn’t surprise me given the source. But there’s still a pretty big disconnect between the opinions LalehForWD thinks matter enough to build a picture in general and the opinions he thinks matter in this particular case.

I hope next year we send something a bit bolder, like this:

And to add to the discussion: it's true that it's not really a topic in Sweden at least to change Melodifestivalen because it's been more or less the same format since 2011-ish and we've had two wins and two bronze medals since.

The jury gave John Lundvik all twelve points they could and got huge televote support, so there is no need to fix anything. We had two wins this decade, which is much more than good enough. I think the general consensus in Sweden is that we've won so recently that there isn't really any rush to get another win, even though we would like it.
