Odds on Sweden is down at 4 as lowest and 5 as highest, and still shortening!
Netherlands odds is around 3 and drifting.

Seems like we might pass sooner or later.

Seriously Sweden please win :D

We are not in the winning race, many fans says we will flop in the televoting and as you know, when the fans are speaking, they have always right and no one can say against that :rolleyes:

No, seriously, I really don´t see us winning, but if John finish high in the jury vote (very likely) and manages top 10 in the televoting, it would maybe be enough to get another 5th place maybe ;)

It's worth remembering nearly every winner from the... as long as I can remember, is in the top three in the betting odds come the final.

Even Azerbaijan were!

That may be the case on the final day, but not at this time of the season. For example the betfair odds in 2014 one hour before semi-final 1 started:

Armenia 3,1
Sweden 4,6
Ukraine 10
United Kingdom 11
Hungary 16,5
Denmark 21
Norway 29
Azerbaijan 30
Austria 44
Israel 60
Greece 80
Spain 90
Finland 95
Belgium 120
Romania 130
Malta 130
The Netherlands 130
.........

Betting odds had no clue about both semi winner until after the semis!

I think the problem for a lot of people (at least for me) last year was the difference of being 2nd with the juries and 23rd with the televote... But I really wish all the best to John Lundvik this year :)

Yes, but that was one year and it happened with other countries as well (Australia says hello!), but it's not as if there has been a general public dislike of Swedish entries, like I wrote minimum top. 10 or better in almost all years for a whole decade with televotes is not bad.

Last year, it was enough only getting points from 11 countries out of 43 to secure a top 10 placing in the televote (:lt:)

It's a nice and cheerful song but I'm surprised this is second in the odds because the song is not that special. He looks quite likable on stage and can sell the song but the song isn't outstanding and also less modern than I would expect from Sweden. Compared to last year and other Swedish songs in recent years, this feels a lot more natural. I suppose after the plastic song from last year flopped in the televote, Sweden decided to vote for something that can actually connect with the audience. 8 points from me.

Have to be honest and say that John is the only performer I can imagine closing the show on Saturday night once the results are known. His song is not in my top 10 (and I wouldn't be happy seeing him winning), but it just sounds like a song that could win ESC this year.

Watching our show where a panel of 4 "experts" and 4 fans judge and rate songs, I must say that I noticed some attitude towards the Swedish entry

A woman of the "experts" absolutely loved the song and john and the women and called it a "tribute for life" and praised it to the skies, which obviously did annoy some fans in the audience yesterday because when the "4 fans" presented their scores it was middle of the road points and the host pointed out that it was "surprisingly low" after the "4 experts" rewarded the entry 3x 12s and a 10. Now she (the host) usually points out if the scores are bad from the fans, but I seriously remember that I heard someone cheer and clapping in the background as she said that the scores from the fans were "surprisingly low". Then a man explained his score and why he wasn't fond of it and he got cheer and applause from the audience lol :?

So this might be me being overly "paranoid" due to the repetition Sweden has in the contest, but I can't remember that someone in the audience has openly cheered and clapped when someone points out a low score for a song

At the same time it was loud cheers after the song was played up,

I know that many norwegian esc-fans (not you Preuss) don´t like us at all (surprise?)

on the old MGP-forum they had, they actually had a thread every year which was titled "we who hates on the Swedish entry" xfacepalm xfacepalm I´m not joking, I remember reading that back in 2015 and it felt surreal.

this year, it´s pretty obvious it was pure jealousy, if TLFL would have been the Norwegian entry, they would have loved it. I´m not surprised though, the norwegian sofa-fans bashed us both in 2017 and 2018

But you can be calm, the same preview show predicted a win for :il: and silver for :by: in 2017

Yes because the song and the performance is absolutely amazing, no doubt that people loved it because not everyone's "obsessed" with Sweden - not sure though if the people who don't like Sweden here in Norway is due to the normal rivalry we have with the Swedes in everything we do :p But I think you're right, sending this kind of an entry is something I don't think is very possible at the moment lol because we just don't have the same culture here in Norway for the competition

I just know that the forum was closed due to hostility and issues with a lot of members there, 2015 was really the first year where I began to look regularly into forums so I don't remember that thread you're talking about

That was my point with "Surprised?"

Good that it was closed, If SVT would have had a simular forum and it would have been the opposite with swedes bashing the Norwegian entry, I would have felt very ashamed

Nervertheless, Johns charisma and the magical choir in "the Mamas" should be more than enough to secure a top 10 finish in the televoting

I do wonder what Melodifestivalen crew will do if John should crash in the televoting as bad as Benjamin did last year?

I wonder if it´s like ESC or if it will be like Bundevision in :de: where all the states compete?

First, it's tobbe ek  But the thing with Lili Assefa sounds serious, it will apparently be a press conference tomorrow. I have no idea what Bundevision is/was.

Bundesvision was a contest idea that Stefan Raab invented after he got tired of ESC back in 2004, so he created a competition where all the German national states compete every year in ESC-style providing songs, voting and so on

It was put on hiatus a year after he returned to ESC 2010 and won, I don´t know if it´s still held
