I doubt so. If the general public is going to replicate what they did to Sweden last year, I can't see Sweden winning.
Plus, this year there are many jury-friendly songs. Besides Sweden, I can see The Netherlands, Italy, Greece and even Azerbaijan fighting for the jury points.
Even Slovenia/Austria (if either qualifies), Israel and Albania/Serbia/North Macedonia (if any of them qualifies) snatching the jury votes due to uniqueness of the entry or vocal capabilities of the singer.

And personally, I do not wish to see Sweden win with this song, which basically brings nothing to the competition as it is just a perfectly staged generic song.

I think The Netherlands is still going to win it in the end (but it could be a very marginal win). Or Italy if they get the staging right.

Is there any reason to believe Sweden will get anything near the low televote they got last year?

If the "backlash" against Swedish entries continue, although technically the viewers cannot downvote an entry they dislike for whatever.
But they can choose not to vote for it, which can be quite damaging as seen in last year's case.

The reason why we got a low score in the televote last year was that people didn´t like the song or didn´t feel a connection with Benjamin.

The hate towards Sweden among fans didn´t began last year, it has been there since 2011 when we stepped up our game, and this was the second time in the latest 10 years when we got a bad telescore (2013 is the other)

Every year is unique. You can apply the same thing to :au: the latest two years, ok songs but terrible staging and that´s why they also scored low with the televote

John has what Benjamin didn´t have, more connection with the viewers and charisma on stage and of course that big smile and of course a much better song then Benjamin had

Was it? I actually thought it's just that the backlash was in full force last year and Benjamin is just the scapegoat of the whole thing. I actually like Benjamin's entry and prefer it to John's, at least Benjamin's staging looks amazing, it just that his vocals were a little questionable.

And his attitude. John comes across as a very natural, nice person, whereas you could feel that everyrpthing about Benjmain was choreographed and rehearsed, even his smile and the looks into the camera.

I'm pretty sure John will do way better with televotes than Benjamin did due to the simple fact that his song is much better, and also like was already mentioned he comes across as warmer and more connecting where Benjamin was just cold and overly rehearsed. The only thing I could see talking against John is that the entry is too americanized for alot of European taste, but I still don't see it "flop" with the public though, maybe the juries will like it more but that doesn't necessary mean that the public will dislike it.

Also can people stop pretending Sweden is a flop with televoters and only liked by the juries? There is no general "backlash" against Sweden other than with jealous online "fans":

2010: top. 10 in televotes in semi, juries were the reason we didn't qualify to the finals that year, not the public!
2011: #2 in televotes in the finals, juries put it lower
2012: Winner with both televotes and juries
2013: First flop with televoters during the 2010's
2014: top. 5 with the televotes in the final
2015: top. 3 with the televotes in the final (but yeah, won due to juries having it as #1)
2016: top. 10 with televotes, juries had it slightly lower but also top. 10
2017: top. 10 with televotes, sure juries had it top. 3 but top. 10 is still good with the public, hardly a "flop"
2018: second flop with televotes in a whole decade ... not that bad statistically?

I think the problem for a lot of people (at least for me) last year was the difference of being 2nd with the juries and 23rd with the televote... But I really wish all the best to John Lundvik this year :)

Yes, and he wants to become the new Johnny Logan lol. Would love to see that happen tbh. He should spare himself the hassle of going through another Melfest though and the risk of potentially flopping (like Loreen). Since Serhat said this will be his last Eurovision I'm assuming San Marino is looking for another artist to replace him, Måns would be perfect for that. As long as he pays he can represent them for as many times that it would take for him to win again and Valentina would finally be able to host the contest in her backyard. Win win situation there. xyaay

Mans was a very charismatic performer. He can win it twice like Logan. Let's see when he will show up again. My prediction is 2022 or 2023.

:pl: 2016? I remember when  got saved by the juries in 2015, without them, AMLM would have been very low, and I know that song was very popular among the fans

Differencies like this will happen sometimes on both sides. That´s what makes this contest so awesome and unpredictable

I also find it very ironic when people saying that "just because it was successful last year don´t mean a thing" when replying to some arguments this year for our song, still the same people uses our bad telescore last year in every discussion, maybe those "should live as they learn"

it´s like saying that we will win the World Cup in 2022 because we came 3rd 1994, makes no sense at all

I'm open to Mans's return, but he needs to go through Rybak's two step program.:D I don't want a boring overly produced plastic like we saw from Carola in 2006. Or even worse: A Ding Dong!

I wonder if he even will represent us, he knows that it nearly impossible for him to top "Heroes" in MF

I wouldn´t be surprised if he competes for another country instead

Eurovision: You Decide 2023, Mans is about to reveal the results, when all of a sudden he says: "You all suck, I'll go to Eurovision. Good night!" xheatxrofl3
