I totally agree here. EKO's "Red" had everything; a haunting melancholic melody, an original arrangement (at least in the MF context) and a really cool sound.

Yes, Alcazar's song charmed me and so was overall my favourite song. It was criminal though how EKO came last. They certainly had the most unique composition of the year. It's really sophisticated and haunting (as you mentioned) synth pop. Plus the girl had a gorgeous, commandingly deep vocal which you don't hear enough of in popular music.

that's not what i meant.
let me rephrase that: i think it's a good song. and thus i'm happy that it won. AND apart from that, i'm happy for her that after so many tries she finally did it.

I agree, I loved her voice and I loved her look. She looked like a modern version of some kind of mythical woodland creature.

Even thought would have preferred my beautiful Alcazar I am SOOOO happy that Sanna won!!!! She deserved it so much! "Undo" was my second favourite in MF so this easily gets 12!

I think I can come across as quite snobbish in regards to the music that's popular today.. but I don't listen and think "This is dreadful because it's modern and trendy", I listen and think that it's just not good music. Current pop music just leaves me feeling cold. It's all so contrived, the heart never feels in the right place.

That's why I like Eurovision so much, it's the only place really that I can still get my pop fix... otherwise i'd just be an incredibly bitter snob listening to old drugged up German folk singers all day (which I do for half the year) Without that special kind of pop Eurovision has i'd be miserable.

I hear ya, well as long as it's about taste it's understandable but it seems like some people are like "oh it's contemporary, then it's bad, I'm above that"...

But then it becomes a bit weird liking extremely safe conventional stuff like "Undo"...

I think if there was a Eurovision for those who finished 2nd in their NF would be more interesting (after tonight's results in Denmark and Sweden)
than the actual Eurovision.

Not surprising considering Sweden is always overhyped by the betters xshrug

Some who made bets may be disappointed when this finishes 8-15 and doesn't come close to winning xshhh

I must say, after brooding over Spain's choice for these past two weeks, it does feel nice to be on the winning side of the controversial two-horse race this time.

I don't see this doing badly at all! I think Sweden could do very well!

In my opinion, good music vs bad music has nothing to do with whether it's safe or risky, conventional or unconventional, out of date or modern etc. ;)

I agree about that, but when people starts with explaining their dislike in music because it's "modern and contemporary" then it seems more of a statement of some sort rather than just liking or disliking something.
