I am also very Noise sensitive, to the point I panic and freak out. For me Eaea works in the wrong direction, it’s not the cure but the poison for me. Sorry.

Okay I partially retract my former statement about not respecting Eaea hate, there is one valid reason and it is this.

Blanca might be the strongest vocalist this year. She is really impressing on stage!
SloMo was my clear favourite last year, both the final performance and also the song itself - it topped my playlist for a long time. And finally Spain came near winning, a top 3 is always impressing. And the day when Spain is finally winning again I will be in heaven. I am so happy that TVE seems to be taking the competition seriously.

So what about this year? What do I think of Spains chances of getting the trophy?
Spain is in my personal top 10. But as opposed to last year, my top 10 is mainly based on the performance, not the song itself.

Spain will be in the jury top 10. Might she win the jury votes? I dont think so. Unfortunately the jury votes tend to reward rather mainstream, high quality pop-songs. And the masters of mainstream, hight quality pop is Sweden. The juries also seem to be rewarding Sweden when not sending high quality songs (I still dont see how the juries could go wild for Dance you Off).

Unfortunately I dont see juries north of the Alps go crazy for Eaea even though they will for sure recognize the vocal performance (I also expect Spain to be visually stunning in Liverpool). But this is not the Voice. The song itself definitely matters.
And I am afraid that the same will be the result among the televoters. I think that the very spanish sound picture of Eaea comes across as too harsh and in-our-face for many televoters. Especially the televoters from the countries not surrounding the Mediterranean sea.

I certainly woulnd't mind it if Blanca wins the whole thing, on the other hand I would be thrilled. But I realistically dont think that will happen. Things like the running order will also play a role this year. And the other contestants live vocal performance - because we all know that Blanca will deliver flawlessly!

Suerte!
I agree with you 100%. I think I've said it before, but I don't really see juries from Sweden, Germany or Latvia (to give you an example) going crazy for this. Jamala's situation was similar: she did very well in juries, but thanks to the countries in the south-est of Europe. Moreover, we are missing some of the Balkans this year, countries that I think will vote for Spain. The televote will be an absolute mistery. I don't really think it depends on whether she is in the first or second half, I think it will have to do more with the mood of Europe in May. My prediciton is that she will probably be top 10 (even top 5) with the juries, but I wouldn't be surprised if the televote places her 18th.

Anyway, I am also happy Spain is taking thing seriously (finally!). As a Spaniard, it's been very frustating to see my own country being bottom year after year, so anything above 15th place is a step in the right direction.

Omg, her performance at Israel Calling was amazing. She slayed. Imo the best performance of the night (again). And that new intro was so beautiful. She also got the biggest reaction from what I've seen. I would be shocked if this doesn't end up in the Top 5 (for me it's the winner right now. She is above Loreen and Käärijä for me) and I don't think she is going to flop in the televote (I'm more concerned about the juries tbh).

I think it's the other way around, as a Spaniard right now I'm more concerned about the televoting than the jury. If she is spotless in Liverpool and the staging is like that of the "Benidorm fest" or better, I think the jury will be disputed along with Loreen. But in the televote it will be more difficult for her, because there are many uptempos and commercial songs (although she can beat many proposals live) but it is something that she can decimate

I'm actually not that worried about the televote for some reason. I think she's going to be top10 with them. It's just a question where she’s placing. People were also saying Jamala, Salvador and Barbara Pravi were going to flop with the televote and we all saw what happened.

I'm not too concerned about televote because the public has shown in the past that they're very open for experimental songs in fact more so than the juries. I also think it's good for her (and Italy) that there are many uptempo songs. It will be easier for them to stick out in the recap tho Blanca's song can be uptempo too if they use the chorus in the recap.

Btw. her performance at IC is close to 100k views on wiwibloggs. The most watched performance of all the pre party performances so far.

It needs two things:
- Great staging visually
- Late running order

We've seen before that original, authentic entries can do well recently (Go_A, Konstrakta) with especially the televotes. I don't expect Spain to be up there with Finland, but I think this has the potential to reach something like 100-200 televotes and we shouldn't be that surprised by it honestly.

For juries this might lack something. They will cream over Tattoo. Not because Loreen is more artistic or has better vocals than Blanca Paloma, but simply because that song is easier to process. Also, there will be for sure some jurors who totally tank this because they just don't know how to deal with a song like this as they are used to listen to plain radio-friendly crap without any form of authenticity to it. And then you already know this won't always end up as a 12 coming from the juries.

So the juries are actually more of a questionmark to me. Sure, vocals and all. But although I don't hate the juries as much as some others here, they aren't holy. It's just some random radio-dj's and boring, generic flopped artists. We can't expect them to go for artistic and daring. I still expect 100+ points from them, but if you look at the criteria the juries at the ESC should stick to, this would deserve a lot more than just 100-something.

This isn't getting anything less than top 10 imo, potential top 5. Juries are where my worries might lie with this, could either do great could either not but the televote? No doubts, I think that's where she'll do well and it'll go in her favour more likely.

I strongly hope we get 2nd half this year, that would make things slightly easier for us I guess. On one hand I'm worried cause this isn't an easy song to process for sure, but on the other I'm calm she'll nail the performance in Liverpool. Experimental songs have had success in some cases but failed in others (still heartbroken for Portugal 2019...). But whatever the outcome is, I'm happy with the package we're sending so different from last year.

I agree this feels top 5 to me although I don't think it will win.
I do think an early slot in the running order could kill its impact on televoters.

Same here.

People have to stop stereotyping televoters as bunch of babies who are not openminded and can only handle stuff that is way too easy to process.

Sweden might have problems on the televote as well,i dont think they have had a 12 since 2015 from anyone outside of Scandi countries and this year they have big Scandi televote competition.Spain can win ESC,they have the talent and the delegation, but they need to really sell emotion through the staging. They need to convince televoters and juries that its special.I think Sweden have a nice entry, but lets face it,it,it would be a very poor winner. The question is can Spain or Finland get in front of them. There might be another comes yet,but it looks like those three will decide this.

It's better to be cautious, it's right. Actually not a long ago I said that anything above 15th place would be a success. But let me add some facts here:
- I've been following the betting odds since 2007, and it's the first time that I see Spain in the top 5 in the beginning of April (Chanel managed to do so, but when all the preparties were over).
- I'm also seeing a lot of people having her in their top 1 (more than with any other Spanish entry I remember).
- Polls on the Internet are going as good as an entry like this has performed in the past. We all know they always go for more mainstream music.
- Russia in 2016 and Italy in 2017 were also strong favourites to win (according to polls and odds) and look what happened in the end. Just saying :p
