Well before the contest Fuego was nowhere near the top, people also thought its been seen and heard before etc, nothing special, so I wouldnt say the song alone was something more extraordinary, as an audio it was not so special imo. Performance and Eleni elevated it to the place it got. SloMo has also this potential. Of course we are talking about Spain so unfortunately I think even SloMo wouldn't reach this high, as it would if it was e.g. Cyprus's or Azerbaijan's song or smth like that. I hate that Spain's song always receive unfair judgment from Europe... Something really needs to click song and performance wise for them to reach higher... I still looove this country and their songs tho, and also vote, I voted for Tu Cancion, and Blas was also in my Top 5 etc. It really seems like a lot of people in Europe love Spanish culture, learn their language, listen to Latin pop etc, I wonder why it almost never translates to Eurovision success... But at least I'm always gonna be a loyal Spain supporter xd

Yeah, in the eyes of many fans, Eleni elevated it to the place it got - which is why Fuego gets so many comparisons and why it is absolutely valid to make those comparisons... not because "every lady-bop would've now been a Fuego copycat", but because it is the best placing lady-bop of the past 5 years whose killer staging is the benchmark quality you want to rival when going this route.

But from a purely subjective perspective, I had Fuego firmly in my top 10 since my very first replay. I don't have any such feelings with SloMo as a song in its current state - of course, that's just me :) As I bims says, a revamp could maybe change things, and even a top 10-15 would've been a huge improvement for Spain.

Imo, there's a big difference between SloMo and Fuego. Fuego was sang from start to finish. Now, SloMo,..while she sings great, towards the end of the song she sings one word here and there and 70 % of the time we are listening to the backing track. Not sure if the impression would be better with live back vocals, but this way it doesn't sound impressive.

I really hope she wont be chosen and we wont have the opportunity to check that at ESC stage.

Love wiwi's reaction to Chanel tooo!! Can't wait to some good song already to start hyping for this year, and right now this song seems to be the one if they choose this ofc. And its about time Spain itself sends a female pop, not some countries totally unrelated to this specific culture claim the prize.. like how many Spanish titled songs have we got from other countries past years ... Adrenalina ( I know they said its Italian but... its also Spanish and for most it relates to Spanish), Cyprus 2 times: Fuego, El diablo etc.. I'm not saying its bad, I liked these songs and glad they sent them, but it kinda feels like... why

And yeah, indeed there's a big difference about Fuego and SloMo... they are completeley different sounds lol... just because they are female bops doesnt mean they are similar.. I wish people would just stop comparing songs, it doesn't add anything... but thats only my opinion

Yes i agree with you but the act was bad. And the Tanxu girls commenting that the jury needs to open their minds is not the right thing to say. Juries might have not liked their act because it was not good and they dont need to open anything.

Because they want to create an impression that the jurors are biased to their detriment due to the jurors' individual political / conservative preferences. I despise these strategies as well.
