This "The 90's meets Disco" sound is very distinctive, only Finland has got something similar this year

What about Belgium? While I don't think it's quite as good as Spain or Finland's entries, it definitely seems to be in the same genre.

I would group Finland and Belgium in the same genre as both have that 70s funk throwback, but Spain is a 90s throwback in the style of Kiesza.
I guess you could say all three entries are retro in their own way but Spain is by far the most successful at their attempt.

Really not a fan of this song.At first I thought it was fun but compared to other songs this year & some older spanish entries (like Dancing in the rain which was AMAZING) this is...crap.It sounds like a song from a cartoon combined with bad english pronunciation (it's sexy when Sergey does it but when Barei does it it's annoying) that becomes boring after a few listens. Can't believe that (many) people think it can win.If Spain hasn't won with so many better songs, they definitely won't win with this one.

I may not agree with you on the armenian entry, but I couldn't have said it in a better way when talking about the spanish one.

It's slightly different, Belgium is not so 90's, is more 70's revival which I do like btw - it's more "pop" and "disco" and less "dancefloor" :)

In this sense is a bit out of fashion in 2016, while 90's sound is coming back

Barei's song is extremely catchy and it makes happy and me want to dance! So I hope it scores high! Though I still think Xuso Jones' song was better...

I'm affraid that Spain actually will win with Say Yay, I mean I like it, but Ruth and Pastora should win and they finnished 10th, so I hope Barei will be around 10-15th

Win? I'll surprised if it makes it out of the bottom 10. The Spanish entry is hyped like this almost every year. We'll see come May, but I can't see this going anywhere, especially as the revamp turned the chorus into a wall of noise.

Well that's a rather spiteful way of viewing things, especially for a song you claim to like:lol:
I mean I simply adored Latvia last year and like it again this year, but I wouldn't begrudge Justs finishing higher than Aminata managed in Vienna.

It was my first entry when I said OMG it is x12s . Spain entries are always overhyped - because of spanish youtube army. But now I feel it is not overhype, Barei can reach high places. Maybe winner? God knows...

Ups.... that acoustic version was not a good one.... Without Barei's positive energy transmitted on stage and the uptempo beat this song looses all that I like about it.

Barei keeps climbing over hills and she's reaching the top 10 in the Betting Odds right now. She was number 20 three weeks ago, now she is 11!

I don't understand. Is there anything I'm missing? The odds are having a very strange behaviour in the last days (not only because of this).

The odds are meaningless right now. No one is quite sure what direction to go until rehearsals. Things will change dramatically in May, I imagine one of those changes will be Spain dropping down the odds.

I can understand dramatic changes in May, but right now, when we know nothing new about the entries.

I think this year is quite similar to 2011. Does anyone remember what was the situation like back in 2011 (in terms of odds)? Was :az: favorite to win before the final?
