Re: SPAIN 2016

So what would you class it as then?

When did I say I was the centre of the universe? I'm simply stating that not every Eurovision fan likes the cheesy, "modern" up-tempo pop songs. A lot of them favour ballads, and I'm one of them.

Well, I was not referring only to Eurovision fans but to average European who may like quite different types of songs. The audience of Eurovision is quite diverse and if the only type of songs that are in the final would be ballads, then that makes many people who do not find this kind of music interesting bored. Besides, you make it sound as if only modern up-tempo songs can be cheesy. To me :mt: 2010 or :hu: 2015 are more cheesy than :es: 2016. But well, that's just happens to be my opinion.

Even though I thing Spain made the best choice made, I already miss Spanish language. It is depressing to see more and more countries to give up on their national language. Last year it was the case with Israel and Hebrew, now Spain joins the club. RIP Spanish language in Eurovision 1961-2015 :(

After sleeping on it, I up my 5 points to a 6 (makes all the difference) ;) This entry really is not bad, but when there were two other songs in the NF that were really very good (imo), it just seems a shame for Spain to settle for something middle-of-the-road like this...

Oh well, good luck Spain :)

Just because they sing in English this year doesn't mean they will never sing in Spanish again.. also remember half of Ruth Lorenzo's song was English/Spanish..

So we should have our first hit for Euroclub from this season :-) After listening to it a few times, I really like it, so 10 points from me.

True, but if they do success then I am afraid they may choose more English songs in the future. Ruth's song was at least bilingual. We have been used to hearing Spanish language every single year but this year we will have no Spanish song. That's sad, especially considering that Spain was one of the few remaining countries that tried to showcase music in the native language. I'm afraid, this year we will not have that many entries in languages other than English - again. Currently, we have only Albania but they want to change to perform English version of the song. Bosnia, FYR Macedonia and Greece are the only countries that have announced the intention to sing in their native languages.

Let's start from this statement. This song is not bad. But I want MORE from Spain. A beautiful country, with the most beautiful language of the world... this song is not Spain's level. I don't mind if we get an English-Spanish 50-50 lyrics (like 2014), but I wanted more, than a similar English pop song. 2014 was strong with Ruth Lorenzo, I really felt sorry for Brequette, who had a great song also. Last year Edurne wasn't between my favourites, but using the Spanish language can be an advantage also, cause it's popular.

And what about Hungary, Hungary was so proud of language earlier and now we can't hear Hungarian language in ESC! :(
And "Kedvesem" was the best entry from Hungary, sung in Hungarian..

What about us? xwave
I'm also quite sad that the song isn't in Spanish this year, but it was obviously the best choice for Spain since the Spanish songs in the national final were not convincing at all.

Yeah, it's true, our language can be an advantage also. It's as hard as beautiful. :D But if I analyse our NFs, in 2014 and 2015, I can't find an impressive Hungarian song with Hungarian language. Few likes 'A legnagyobb hős', but it was Kallay's year, and the final result was in his side. :) In 2015, Ősz utca was the most popular song with Hungarian language, but the live performance was weak. From this year, I like the favourite song (Freddie - Pioneer), but after 3 years, we have a strong native language song also (Oláh Gergő - Győz a jó). Both are good for me, we can grab a good final position with both, as the live performances are good also.

Oh, yes I forgot Italy  This gives us 4 countries that will sing in their native languages. It is bad... but considering last year (6 entries in native languages) maybe at least there will be small improvement - we just need 3 more songs. :)

My faves this year in A Dal are both in Hungarian language.."Győz a jó" and Parno Grazst whihc will compete in the next heat, I hope they will be good live and will pass, vote for them! :D

I loved Kerestesz Ildiko, if she won A Dal, I bet she would conquer Eurovision! :D

She has a strong personality, and a unique voice, I can admit that. :) If she had a bit stronger song (that she would have deserved), she could be unstoppable! ;) Since last year's NF, I don't hear from her, she lost a bit.

It's probably the first song this year that I actually like. It's very good but I'm not crazy about it so I give it a :6: :D
