Re: SPAIN 2012

Actually Chenoa said that she WOULD LIKE to represent Spain at ESC, but it's not her choice. Not sure she means that her company doesn't allow her to go to ESC or it's because of how TVE is doing the pre-selections.

Knowing a bit her, certainly she has pending contracts with other companies that prevent presented in Eurovision, but await and see, but i dobut that she take parts on this year NF..

We don't even know what's going to happen with the NF or if there will be one... + there are elections on November 20th and most probably there will be a change in the government and so, in TVE as well. I'm not sure if actual TVE team will prepare a NF system if they won't be there some weeks later. Maybe there's something decided. We'll see ;)

Re: SPAIN 2012

Interview to Chenoa on the radio:

- I: There are some results that put you as ideal representative for Eurovision.
- CHENOA: Yes, I'm happy.
- I: But would you go to Eurovision?
- CHENOA: Yes, happily. I've already been, but I haven't been as a first team player. I've been as defender. Now as individual artist facing it, I would like it so much. The problem is that the song and the composer always count and I must like it.

This is like: "TVE, choose me internally". Maybe she is already chosen. She has new album BTW so who knows.... Here is her first single:

Those are two of my favourite songs of her :)
But I think "Absurda cenicienta" is a cover. Not sure though...

Re: SPAIN 2012

I don't know what there is to learn from this but this is something I heard (and uploaded) on British radio the other day:

This is an interview with Jack Lucien, a singer who was shortlisted to represent Andorra 2 years ago, and co-wrote Russia's entry, Get You, last year with Red One.

He talks about his Eurovision background, and mentions that he has written a song to represent Spain called "Quiero Mas De Ti" (I want more of you) and has already started communication with Spanish TV (he admits this after a long pause, I guess he shouldn't have mentioned it, and if you can hear carefully, he talks to, I think, his manager asking what more he can say about it!) . He then goes on to diss the UK selection and the BBC which is quite interesting - guess the UK rejected him ha-ha-ha...

If you don't know his music (I didn't till I heard this interview), but his wikipedia page is http://wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack Lucien, he is good friends of Soraya Arnelas (who represented Spain 2 years ago) and here's a selection of his songs from Youtube:

I hope I've opened a can of worms regarding this; I don't think he was meant to say anything and I am a journalism student!

First news I have about this guy, but I don't think he will be selected if he doesn't have anything to do with Spain, as it looks...

Re: SPAIN 2012

Also, I don't speak Spanish, but how is anyone in Spain going to take him seriously if he sings in Spanish? He might have connections with Andorra but he has the strongest English accent ever. I downloaded his most recent album and he sings one song in Spanish: Spanish speakers, does he sing well in your "lengua"? :D Sounds pretty convincing to me... http://itunes.apple.com/es/album/lo-que-soy-spanish-version/id476606737?i=476606954

Re: SPAIN 2012

Just to say: he does speak Catalan (he writes on his Youtube video for his song Be With You in Catalan - thanks Google Translate -

Moltes gràcies per haver deixat un comentari tan bonic! és una de les meves cançons favorites també :) He gravat una versió de Boig per tu, amb aquesta producció, per al meu àlbum que serà llançat el pròxim any, espero que t'agradi!

Is that good catalan? His Wikipedia page says he's Andorran (although he says in the interview his Dad lives there), and he speaks beautifully perfect English... all very confusing

) but that's exclusively a language in Andorra and parts of northern spain?... don't know much about Spanish/Catalan/Andorran relations, but i guess if he speaks catalan he certainly will speak Spanish? I'm gonna leave this conversation to you guys and I'll observe, i can't help anymore apart from bringing the news

Re: SPAIN 2012

hehe so nice to know another journalism student, just like me :p

First of all, it's very confussing, cause I found two pages on wikipedia. One of them says he's British and the other one says he's Andorran.

About Catalan, that's a language spoken in Spanish region of Catalonia and Catalan dialects are also spoken in Valencia and Balearic Islands. It's the official language in Andorra. I don't speak Catalan, but it looks like he speaks a perfect Catalan. Despite being an independent country since long time ago, Andorra has always been related to France and, especially, Spain, so all the Andorrans also speak Spanish well.

I haven't found anything on Youtube where he's singing in Spanish, so I don't know if he can sing in Spanish. But I suppose he can as he speaks Catalan, which is very similar. And it's not difficult to sing in Spanish either ;)

But honestly, I must say that I think his songs are IMO horrible and I don't like his voice at all. I just can't see this electro-gay style from the 80's doing well in ESC right now... So with these news I wouldn't like him at all to represent us.

Re: SPAIN 2012

It's November 15th and we still don't know about this year NF, when TVE usually makes the announcement at the beginning on the month. I smell a possible internal selection for this year...
