that's just your opinion though. But calling the contest "dead" because your song didn't make the cut is not really fair, don't you think?

I thought Slovakia SUCKED, I always said it and I'm not too sad it didn't make it.

You are being completely rude towards Americans! Well, we'll use all the money we get from our record sales worldwide to dry our tears. If only we could have the artistic soul of Sweden in your eyes...oh, well!

Nah, I love the states and have friends and relatives there...

I just hate that type of wailing ballads that just goes on without no real melody and just voice-show-off... i'd rather listen to a weaker voice with a nice song than 3 minutes of voice torture.

You call it wailing, and I call it passion. The girl is mourning the loss of her relationship. Read the words. When the love of your life leaves you, do you shed a tiny tear and whisper 'oh well'?

And it does have a "REAL" melody (as opposed to a fake one?)!!! Just cause you probably can't sing it, doesn't mean it's not there!

I don't know what to say. It was one of the most sincere performances. It was great, sadly it didn't do well. :( Pity for Slovakia, they deserved the final more than Russia or Portugal.

or not...apparently!

Lol so you think the outcome in Eurovision always equals total fairness and correcntes? You've got things to learn about the contest then....

Eurovision is almost as political as the UN headquarters... go figure.

Slovakia has no "friends" in this, it's a small country, barely any diaspora and is not considered "western" enough for the juries to step in and help... although it's not eastern either.

It's just a small central European country that people forget about and in this contest the country is almost equally as important as the songs.

Not because of that song alone, but yes partly.

I saw this happening already last year.

It's about that there's soon no point for countries to send something flavored by their own musical culture, because the juries happens not to like that... and for me that's something VERY important for Eurovision.

So yes... if it continues like this it's dead to me.

And I guess since you didn't like it anyway you can't see my point...

Eurovision becomes EMA. The results are totally shocking  Who's next? Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan...? We'll see.

She was wailing and there was hardly a melody yes...

but if you liked it good for you...

I'm still almost certain the juries helped this one since this style is barely popular anywhere in Europe...

Doubt there'll be a next after this. :( This is the BIGGEST mistake in Eurovision EVER. The same thing happened to Slovenia last year. :(
Hm maybe you mean Slovenia 2008? Coz last year's song wasn't so good...

I feel bad for Slovakia! I really liked it! :(

lol I saw that already last year...

I KNEW this year would turn out this way... gosh the juries are even more predictable than the voters...

If there's a ballad and it's enough wailing, it's oldfashion and has nothing to do with the county's own music culture = expect the juries to love it and vote for it.

Well, I guess we can't agree on this one.....but for the record.

I'm happy better songs than Slovakia qualifed IMO that is, and I am glad the juries have a 50% say cause the voters usually get it wrong.

So, keep whining, I'm quite enjoying it. Won't put them through though.....bye bye see yah next year.

Well... enjoy the death of Eurovision...

next year they should really change the name to European Idol...

or better "the ones who can wail the most in 3 minutes contest" <- that'd be an awesome show really

Aren't the juries from ALL different countries?! Help yourself. And it's not like everybody is best friends with Portugal. Hello?!?!

-Next one to fall...???

-It should be DENMARK -dk...

-Why?

-We must let off space in the Final for the countries from political voting, like Russia.

-Ok, Mr. Eurovision.

Quit saying that! It makes you sound ignorant! American Idol is comprised of UNKNOWN singers singing KNOWN songs. This competition is completely different.

And yes...Flavoring your song always screws you up with the juries. Just ask Armenia after the show on thursday. They'll really regret it!

This whining is very stupid. Slovakia was my favorite too, but she was awful tonight and that's it. It's her fault and not the judges or someone else ;)

You don't seem to get it.

For how long have you been following Eurovision? It's all about politics really.

Portugal is considered a "western country in need" in this...so the juries step in (yes I believe they are partly there to help certain countries)... and voila they love these type of ballads aswell = win win situation for Portugal...

just look last year: Portugal had an amazing entry that actually had something to do with the country's own cultural music... did the jury help then? Nope...

They hate ethno obviously

Oh com'on now, stop being such a sore loser. That's the way with ESC. Some get happy, some get sad. Next year you'll be happy, Matt will be happy in any case, Portuguese fans might be sad and I'll be once again happy and sad at the same time. Just because Slovakia didn't qualify, this won't mean the end of ESC. Try to enjoy it A-lister.
