Hey, this sounds very promising! Sounds like this could be a good NF, with Kim, Inmate and Raiven being the three that stood out the most for me. We'll see in full later on, but it sounded like Raiven was pissed...at least melodically. :twisted:

This is sadly not a strong nf. Really like the Songs from Ula and Kim, they are really good. But i think Raiven will win, it's also a good song, i find the other two stronger for my taste. I expected more of the songs.

I liked quite a few from the snippets. Raiven's song sounds very promising. Also looking very much forward to hear the full versions from Lumberjack and Inmate, also from René and Fed Horses - at least from what i could sense from the short versions.

My favorite by far is of course ULA! (and in case you're wondering, yes, i do hope switzerland selects scilla hess with "playground" but at the same time, both of them would cancel each other out, so maybe just one of us should send a song like that?)

And Kim is my 2nd, That's a double win for Maraaya. This "Avicii ripoff" is far superior to the estonian one
Lumberjack sounds exactly what i thought it would. 2000s slovenian rock that would flop at eurovision but whatever
Inmate are good too, I like that they didn't go overboard.

Raiven didn't meet my (maybe too high) expectations, so 5th place is what she gets from me. But I trust her as a performer, so she still gets ranked

Yay! Snippets!

Let me share my impressions on a first listen:

1. Kim: Very Maraaya, catchy as usual and Kim's voice is a sure added value. I think I'm going to like this. I wonder what the chorus will sound like live though

2. Renata Mohoric: A bit basic and boring, though it remains pleasant sound-wise.

3. René: ok boy! I wasn't expecting anything from him, but I feel it's going to be a jam. Love the mood and beats! And it's in Slovenian! Go René!

4. Fed Horses: I don't know about this, it's kind of there. Neither good, nor bad: it's transparent. It doesn't make me want to listen to the rest of the track tbh.

5. Ula Lozar: Ok, it's catchy but some things bother me: firstly her voice sounds weird here, don't know why. And I'm not feeling this hasty raggae vibe going on. The saxo part is nice though, did Raay channel Stig Rästa? We'll see the entire song, but out of his two efforts this year, I think I'll prefer "Rhythm Back To You".

6. Lumberjack: Not my cup of tea. The melody doesn't appeal to me either. Meh.

7. Okusticni: Wrong snippet! I can't say anything about that one until there's some lyrics and singing!

8. INMATE: I was waiting for this one, it's not bad. Actually, I think it'll be better live, the vocal seems to be drown in the music in the studio cut. Good!

9. Zala Kralj & Gasper Santl: that's exactly what I wanted them to send! Really chill and modern. Me likey!

10. RAIVEN: ... WOW! What the heck is that? She warned us it was going to be different than what she did, but it's even more out there than I what I had envisioned! I wonder what it'll sound like live due to the distorted vocals. But wow, if the entire song is as promising as the snippet, Slovenia could go big this year! It's modern, peculiar and probably high-impact. If the visuals fit the mood and craziness of it all, then welcome in the top 10 come May!

My ranking based on the snippets would be the following:

1. RAIVEN (no brainer)
2. Zala Kralj & Gasper Santl (it's gonna be great)
3. René (jam incoming! Nice surprise!)
4. Kim (she's gonna rock this track)
5. INMATE (not sure about the studio cut, will be great live)
6. Ula Lozar (catchy, but a bit weird, I need to listen to the rest)
7. Renata Mohoric (pleasant but forgettable)
8. Fed Horses (meh)
9. Okusticni (dunno where to put them)
10. LUMBERJACK (not my thing)

Ironically, this could be the strongest EMA I've ever followed. My top 5 literally got me excited! Don't you want to give us French one of them?

OMG KAOS sounds so crazy, I'm not ready!

Zala Kralj & Gašper Šantl need to go to Eurovision! Modern, chill and in Slovenian. it's risky but will definitely bring quality to the contest.

I hope their performance are going to be artsy and refined.

Renata - Dark air! Good entry

Fed Horses - interesting, suggestive melody
Ula - This is the song in the competition for JESC? Bye
Lumberjack - I don't like this kind of music
Okusticni - "uuu uuu uuuu" for 30 seconds? Seriously?
Inmate - Good sound, pop rock
Zala & Gasper - when he sings? This is flat for now.
Raiven - Very powerful, like Iveta and Aminata! With this performance she can use many things like smoke, lights, video shots, body movements! Here I see potential for a complete package.

Inmate sounds right up my alley; I look forward to hearing the full version of their song. Otherwise, the instrumental break in Raiven's song could go either way but has huge potential if they work that into the rest of the song well.

Depending on full versions, either Inmate or Raiven to Eurovision please.

So Raiven's snippet.

For an artist whose schtick is so based on taking the cutting edge and finding something new or creative in it, the concept is weirdly stale. What it most sounded like to me was a song that would've lost if they'd Saara Aalto-ed Hanner McSinny Hannah Mancini in 2013 instead of just picking Gay Outta H8 Straight Into Love. I actually did enjoy it, perhaps even really enjoy it. Let me make that very clear. But it's so far removed from what I was expecting given 1) her 2) how people were talking about it that I found the experience of listening to it kind of jarring.

My easy favorite of the snippets was actually "Sebi." Sounds like that could develop into a really cool, chilled-out electronic track. It seems kind of chanceless given reactions, which is a little disappointing. Below that, I have Raiven, Ula, and possibly even Lumberjack, who sound shockingly authentic given some of the choices they made.

Making notes will listening to the snippets...

Kim - This is great. Real fan of the chorus, 'fast-food' music done well with a much richer voice than a lot of generic pop singers.
Renata Mohoric - Kind of a weird part of the song, I can tell the chorus will be good but overall the snippet leaves a lot still up in the air. Could go either way.
Rene - Really good production, but I don't think this is the right song for Slovenia. Feels like it could be lackluster on stage.
Fed Horses - Nothing notable. Slightly outdated.
Ula Lozar - The rhythm in the pre-chorus feels off, like it would be difficult for an audience to sing and/or dance too. Reminds me of Caravan Palace.
Lumberjack - An okay song, but forgettable and unoriginal. Pleasant enough.
Okusticni - Another bad snippet choice, rest of the song could be nice.
Inmate - Live version will definitely make it stand out. Considering the fate of Viszlat Nyar last year however, this isn't Slovenia's winning song.
Zala & Gasper - Snippet is nothing notable, again, hopefully the full song will be good. Probably going to be modern and relaxed.
Raiven - OMG.

I'm at work now so I can't hear the snippets, but I'm so excited to see what Slovenia has to offer.
I have always been fascinated by the effort coming from such a small country.
Hope we have a winner among these 10 acts.

So excited for Ula She was robbed in 2014.
