I agree, they aren't going (as they explained themselves) to these promo concerts because of the concerts they arranged and got already paid already before their victory. But, don't get me wrong, there are many different ways of promoting your song. But they are not doing much of promotion here at home either. I don't know, they seem passive.

I got used to it already. I only hope that they will get better clothes and that's it. I really hate those baggy pants and sweaters.

I was just talking about pre-parties of course ;) It would be in their best interest for their career to do some promotion at national level, and why not a bit of social media promotion to win the loyalty of their newly gained fans abroad: it doesn't cost much, they seem to be into Instagram and one has to take care of their 12k new followers :D

Personally, I'm not sad not to see them because firstly pre-parties have no impact on the results

I am not so sure about that.

I think the pre-parties are a great experience for the artists. As I can tell from some social media the artists seem to really enjoy their time and are happy to meet some of the other artists.

The live performances and press interviews are also a great possibility to rehearse for the big event. So in the end it can boost a contestants confidence which ultimately leads to a better result.

Don't get me wrong: pre-parties are fun, no doubt any participant attending them has a good time. I didn't say it was useless per se, for it became part of the Eurovision season for artists and eurofans. If some acts feel galvanised by the experience, that's great, but I don't think it's got any effect on the outcome in the end.

Live perfs and interviews can indeed be considered as rehearsals for the contest, but one may rehearse on their own as well. As we've seen in the past, acts that don't join these events aren't less likely to qualify, get a good result or win. And vice versa, since most of the Eurovision audience discovers the songs on TV when the show begins.

In my opinion, being ready and in tune with your own song on the night that counts is what matters ultimately, regardless of the preparations beforehand.

Nah, I agree with tuorem on this one. Pre-parties, press, even press meetings during ESC aren't covered by our national broadcaster who owns the rights to transmit ESC. Usually we get only news what our representatives say and if some scandal happens, but that is all. No-one cares and very few people comment and those comments are usually mocking. So, even if you get well versed with press, I don't believe this influences your chances of floping/winning the whole thing. Only fans avidly follow every word of every contestant. That's it.

In my opinion, the most important things of all are the voice during performance and camera work in relation to staging. Even bad staging can come off as good on live TV with good camera work and vice versa (e.g. Azerbaijan's Drip Drop had a good staging for arena, but it came as strange across TV). As for the voice, we all remember Switzerland few years ago. Great song, but the guy had a really awful live voice and he flopped. I can't remember his name, but he was a huge fan-favorite.

Just remember that eurofans are maybe 2-3 % of televotes and if you have strong favourite you won't change it, preparties or promotions can't easily change your opinion.

Neutral people that vote on Eurovision don't know anything, or just something contraversial about artist (in my country, one newspaper has written text about Hatari, full of mistakes). They will focus only on 3 minutes + recap, so i think Zala and Gasper can focus on themselves totally.
Running order is in their favour, they are only silent song in the semi, and Blackbird effect some people are talking about is impossible to happen. Blackbird had Salvador Sobral performing two songs after, and every ballad could have been easily killed by it. There are some things definetely that may concern Zala and Gasper, they aren't safe for qualification (as well as nobody in 1st semi), but still, lot of things are in favour for them. Ieva last year was in sandwich between Czech Rep. and Israel and still came trought as a slower song, like a rest between noise.
Poland and Czechia are great draw for Slovenia, the only better possible was Poland and Belarus

This is why sadly we can't have just good things,... I also remember on the other hand I remember Cesar Vampire from Romania finishing very high or Jacques Houdek with his theatrical farce. Albeit I have to say that Cesar has become my guilty pleasure with time (and he definitely can sing). Frankly, I have my expectation cooled down towards Slovenia. Everything above making the final is a bonus. If they make top 10 it will be great.

Such a lovely, little tune. Always loved it when Slovenia sends songs in their mother language, Slovenian just sounds pleasant to me (:

If you have yet to find a good reason to watch the contest this year, then I found one for you: Lea Sirk will be the official Slovenian spokesperson in Tel Aviv! xcheer

Link to the official Emaevrovizija instagram post HERE

Also, RTVSLO will record a show called "Vse o Evroviziji" that is to be broadcasted right before the grand final at 8 p.m. on May 18th. Zalasper (yes, that's my way of naming our favourite couple now) and Nejc Šmit - who interviewed all the candidates of EMA 2019 - will take part in it. :)

Well, that show will be kinda awkward if Slovenia fail to qualify
(Hopefully that ain't happening though)

You may be right, I probably was from there in a different time :D hence my irrational interest in Slovenia now.

Hey that's me on the picture!

I haven't been here for a long time! But I had to log back in to comment (and change my sig haha) because I am absolutely ENAMOURED with Zala and Gašper's song. As soon as it started I knew I'd like it, and then the lovely chorus came on. I looked up the meaning and fell in love even more. Plus the fact they are a real-life couple is all kinds of adorable and I'm now following them on Instagram lol.

I'm SO glad that Australia is in Semi Final 1, because then I can vote for them :3

BTW, not sure if this has been posted or not... (apologies if it has), but they posted a video of Zala singing the chorus in English on their Instagram. They reiterated that the song will be sung in Slovene at Eurovision, but that they shared it because they wanted everyone to understand the meaning of the chorus. Aww. It sounds amazing. I actually teared up, hearing it in English, even though I'm so glad they're singing in their native language.

Anyway, I'll stop waxing lyrical about them :p

P.S. I can't remember who here mentioned it but I looked up the American woman living in Slovenia with her husband. Watched a few of her vids, loved them. Especially enjoyed the one about her talking regarding the difficulties in learning Slovene, despite her (at the time) having lived there for 6 years. :)

I am always saying to tuorem that he should move here hahaha. I am certain we can find him some lovely husband here in Slovenia.

Otherwise, Wiwibloggs gave a positive review to our rehearsal. It looks promising. There are already some clips of them online. While many commentators focus on the big stage and the view from the arena, please, look up those clips that give you direct look at the screen - it seems it will going to look quite nice. Looks very promising.
