1. April, with a song composed by Raay, is among one of the invited singers.
Comment: this statement seems more than just plausible. On December 16th, April posted (on FB) this: "what do you think, is it true that RTV just called me and offered to represent Slovenia on ESC 2014 or am I just kidding? Also, if it is true, should I do it or not?" She competed on EMA 2011 with "Ladadidej" so there is surely some interest on her side and her latest single wasn't as successful as her previous ones. If it's true, I'll be more than happy!!
2. Ylenia was - just like last year - invited as our representative, but she refused the offer, because she would have to pay some part of participation by herself. Now that we got sponsors and EMA, she might take part in it.
Comment: I find the first part, that she was invited as our representative, veeery surprising if it's true. She is not really a well-known singer in Slovenia (didn't have any popular song, if I'm correct), but is known for constantly participating in different competitions (EMA, Slovenska popevka, Melodije morja in sonca). She participated on EMA 3 times and I don't see why she wouldn't try it again. She's a great singer and I really loved her 2010 attempt "Priznam". I think that she should participate with a ballad, if she's in.
3. Natalija Verboten said to RTV that she would be more than happy to represent Slovenia on ESC. She's currently suing our national TV, because they supposedly stole her scenario for a show.
Comment: Natalija isn't nearly as popular as she was a few years ago and even then she entered EMA twice, I think (with "Cry On My Shoulders" and "SOS"). Her style has changed over the years and honestly, I'm not sure if I want her back to EMA. Sure, "Cry On My Shoulders" was a good song, but I don't think she can come up with something similar this year.
4. Nuša Derenda is interested in taking part (second year in a row), but RTVSLO hasn't called her yet.
Comment: I think that she said - in one of the interviews - that she would be willing to participate for Slovenia but that she needs enough time to find the right song and prepare. It always seemed to me that she and RTVSLO have a great relationship (she participates on other competitions, is a guest quite frequently in different shows, ...), so I don't get why they wouldn't call her if they knew she's willing to participate.
5. Andrej Babič sent a song called "Amor" to RTVSLO. It is sung by Rebeka Dremelj.
Comment: this one definitely seems true. Andrej Babić is a constant contender in our NFs so he'll definitely try his luck again. And about Rebeka Dremelj; she just released a new single, composed by Andrej Babič, so they definitely started their collaboration and it's totally possible that they decided to participate on EMA as well. Rebeka participated in EMA a few times before, last time being in 2008, when she won the contest and represented Slovenia in Eurovision. After that, she didn't seem that interested, I think, but I have a feeling that she'll be back and that the rumour is true!
6. Tinkara Kovač, Nika Zorjan and Alenka Godec are among other mentioned names as well.
Comment: Hmm, I don't think that we'll see Tinkara Kovač on EMA. Sure, she participated in the past, but she just doesn't seem like a type of person who would really want to go to Eurovision. Alenka Godec is a little bit more plausible, but I still don't see her trying again this year. And about Nika Zorjan, she could definitely be in (hasn't released a song since August, participated in Misija Evrovizija, seems to really want to go to ESC), but I don't think that Raay would enter both, April and Nika Zorjan to EMA. Yeah, it's pretty weird. She is suing RTVSLO because they supposedly stole her scenario, but she might withdraw the lawsuit if they accept her song (that's what I read somewhere). Funny business.

I think that she's a great live singer, but I really, really can't imagine her on the Eurovision stage. + her songs sound really, really dated.
But you never know, she could come up with something great as well.

Well, there was quite some drama with TV3 (TV station behind the show), even lawsuits were mentioned, I think. More than 16 additional episodes were planned, but Klemen decided to cancel the contract and move to our biggest TV channel, POP TV, where he started his new TV show called "Je Bella Cesta".

Well, there was quite some drama with TV3 (TV station behind the show), even lawsuits were mentioned, I think. A bit of statistics before today's semi-final allocation draw.
Since 2008, Slovenia has performed 2 times in semifinal #1 and 4 times in semifinal #2.
Our best 1st semifinal result is 11th place (36 points) from 2008 and our worst result is 16th place (8 points) from last year.
Average: 13,5
Our best 2nd semifinal result is 3rd place (112 points) from 2011, followed by two 16th places (one with 14 points: 2009 and one with 6 points: 2010). Our worst result is 17th place (31 points) from 2012.
Average: 13,0
Alright, averages don't really differ from each other, but it's more than obvious that 2nd semifinal brought us more luck and happiness. So, from this point of view, we want to be allocated to the 2nd semifinal! Oh, and second half, please!

... and my wishes came true! Yaaay, we are in the 2nd semifinal, 2nd half. Another +: that's a semifinal with "only" 15 entries!

Slovenia needs a singer who can perform, have good live vocals and some up-tempo!
