Why did he have to change his name?

It's all marketing. He said that Max Jaison Mai does completely different music than Miro Šmajda. And the reason why they didn't reveal Slovak participant earlier is they wanted to create some buzz... (and also Miro needed some time to prepare Max Jaison Mai project - he spent some time in the US working with american producers, improving his language skills and the music video for his song was also filmed there)

btw.. Max will present his song live this friday during OTO awards.

even tho I understand your point, I'm with Knubelznarm here.
I gave only one 0 this year, and it was for Georgia (sorry Georgia, but that really is 0). there's a lot of songs that aren't smth special to me but those get small pts (1-4).

besides, voting the way you described it makes perfect sense only if you're voting when all songs are released. but if I'm voting one by one, through some period of time (like I am with esc songs), I have to judge every song for itself

I mean there's a reason why we can vote 1-8, 10 & 12 (the same point system as in ESC), and in my interpretation shouldn't that logically reflect ones top. 10 then? So naturally if it's not in the top. 10 it gets 0pts.

You can interpret the poll in different ways. I personally don't want to play a game where i am "The land of Knubelznarm", giving only points to my top 10. I find that silly and a waste of all the other songs.

I think the interpretation is free, I don't find it silly if that's genuinely how some interpret it, however I find it silly if someone interpret it your ways and gives 0 "just to make a point" or whatever. But in the end it's all very subjective.

yeah, but how can u know what is/will be your top 10 if you haven't heard all songs yet?

you can be generous with 0's and in the end realise that you gave pts to 6 songs and u end up with top 6 instead of top 10

I will make my top 10 after I hear them all. untill then, only true horrors get 0 (sorry again Georgia)

Still doesn't explain why almost every song is either 0 or 12 with no in-between. So every song selected so far is either utterly fantastic or so bad you want to vomit. I just don't understand that. I give it points based on what I think of that song and that one alone. I do not pick my top 10 and give everything else zero, I really don't think that was the original intention of the polls, although I could be wrong. I just think it skews the results a bit.

I'm not saying that some people are childish or cheap. Just their actions and sometimes their preferences (in my opinion)
My point is this:
Finding an entry disturbing, extreeemely bad-taste or maybe even sending a vicious message or attitude = 0 points
Finding a song pretty uninteresting = 2-4 points
When I look at all the 0's in the polls, it seems to me that people are too easy on using the opportunity to give 0 points. And it's the same with 12 points. That's not just something you give a song. The polls look ridiculous because of it

He could have chosen a rocker sounding name. Mai is one of my Vietnamese friend's name, nothing really rocker about her

That makes sense to make a different ESC name in that respect, but since he was in the position to choose a new stage name, he should have chosen something a bit less random sounding. I feel like this name is totally made out of the blue. It's 3 different names tacked on together, unless I'm misunderstanding something.

Awesome! I think this year the number of rock songs is higher than previous years and their quality is really good (usually I don't like rock songs in Eurovision).
