Re: SERBIA 2014

The director of RTS, Aleksandar Tijanić,was just found dead in front of his apartment :( Since he was actually the one pushing :rs: to participate in Copenhagen, it is almost certain that now it will be waited for the final decision.

May he rest in peace :(

Horrible news :(

So tragic for himself and his family. RIP. Like PeterLPZ he was the one pushing for it, i think they might not announce till the deadline. But its now looking unlikely. Such horrible news.

Re: SERBIA 2014

Horrible news indeed and even more horrible are the comments on Serbian portals and in the auditorium where there are even people who are happy with this outcome and they are glad that he died, as now they don't have to pay for the subscription fees (for RTS TV program), "one s**t has died, hopefully the others will too" as one person said etc etc..........

I better leave my comment on this that I have read for myself. They can't even respect a person who died. Horrible, sad and tragic.

That is in such bad taste. I can't believe anybody would think to say that, even if they didn't like him its just wrong. Imagine how that makes his family feel if they were to read any of it.

Re: SERBIA 2014

^^ I know.........it is absolutely horrible and disguising for me. I never even thought something like this about anyone and not say it publicly........

Sadly, this is the time we are living in. So many things are wrong, so many cultural values are lost and one shouldn't be surprised.

What was his role regarding Serbia's ESC selections? Had he any input in this?

It's because of Zeljko Mitrovic, that sentence "one s**t has died, hopefully the others will too" refers to Zeljko Mitrovic! 100%!

Re: SERBIA 2014

The first X factor in Serbia has started, it's for Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Macedonia, Zeljko Joskimovic is in jury, Emina Jahovic who participated in Serbian NF in 2010 and Kristina Kovac, composer of 2011 Serbian entry "caroban" as well!
Somebody from X factor could represent Serbia in ESC! There will be many GREAT singers! And foreign composer can compose smth modern and nice! :)

That is what I thought as well. Although comments like that are definetly highly inappropriate.

Re: SERBIA 2014

Jesus christ do you think every single artist from a talent show is bad?

No? But too many of these talent shows produces faceless, non-artistic, wailers who are as interesting as a drying wallpaper. There's little artistic worth, originality or personality and most of these talent shows relies on a very conventional idea about what a musical "talent" should be.

But the whole "let's choose a talent show act and import a 'modern entry in English' from abroad" is like the worst case scenario.

But you can definitely win with it. And I don't think that anyone out of a casting show is boring. Lena for example also won a casting show and she's still won of the most successful artists her in Germany.

I agree with the 2nd part. Sure, 2 or 3 modern entries aren't bad, but when it's too many it gets boring.
However, many great, interesting and original artists have their origins in talent-shows, so don't discard them just because they came from one.

Success doesn't always equal quality right? Anyhow Lena is a good example that talent shows can produce artists with character aswell, unfortunately it's not the most common for talent shows.

I have nothing against modern, afterall I'm a kid of my time, but "modern" in ESC seem to be rather dated so then I'd rather have something traditional or timeless instead. I mean the most up-to-date songs fails anyways it seems (see Montenegro 2013).

I didn't say all artists that come from talent shows are bad, but too often it's just based on a very conventional, American Idol-ish/Simon Cowell-esque, judgment.
