Turbo-folk is combination of serbian pop-folk music (created by Lepa Brena in 80's) and turkish/arabic folk music.

I thought it was the early 2000s.

He means that the Serbian folk-pop was created in the 80's. It was made popular by Lepa Brena.
Turbo-folk was mainly developed in the 80's as well, but became popular in the late 80's and early 90's.

Yeah, I've read on RTS web site (reason - smth like austerity measures in RTS, blah blah)...I don't believe either. I think Joksimovic is sickly obsessed with ESC, and that's only reason.
I think song will be good (I bet he already made it) but I really don't like him.
