Re: SERBIA 2012

escserbia.com reports that the Serbian Head of Delegation, Dragan Ilić, has confirmed Serbia’s participation in the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest.

“Of course we will participate,” said Dragan Ilić. “As regards to the participation of Serbia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012, there’s no doubt about it!”

Although the official announcement from RTS is yet to come, the positive news means RTS will eventually address the public with what their plans will be in selecting their entry for 2012. In the past two years, RTS has selected one or several composers to compose three National Final entries. RTS has not yet indicated whether they will reuse this system in 2012.

escserbia.com additionally reveals that the latest Serbian representative Nina (2011) will be a guest in the fourth Misija Evrovizija heat where she will duet with Anastacia

Karleuša will be great choice for spectacle even she sounds like dying chicken. She perfect know how to stay in spotlight in every situation

Something like "Upravo ostavljena" or "Insomnia" will be perfect for ESC

Haha  @ the "dying chicken" comment. Well, I think she'd end up being one of the main "talk of ESC" and also she is a known name for Serbian and ex-Yugo diaspora, and it's not as her music is bad, some is pretty cool and catchy.

But knowing RTS view on turbo-folk singers (just look at how they treated Ana), I doubt we'll ever see someone like Karleusa. The day Pink would be responsible for Serbian ESC selection maybe (if that would ever happen), but I doubt it with RTS.

Re: SERBIA 2012

Actually Karleuša now swim in pop waters (or try), and Ana is pop folk singer. Milan Stanković is typical example of turbo folk singer and he goes in 2009. ;)

Karleusa is POP singer :)

Well she surely didn't start out that way.

I dunno, maybe in the Balkans it's considered "Pop" but there's no question it's still heavily influenced by Turbo-folk still. It doesn't sound like "pop" elsewhere.

What's the difference between "pop folk" and "turbo-folk"? Isn't "turbo-folk" just the name of Ex-Yugo pop folk?

Yeah I know what turbo-folk is, but I mean Ana's "Romale Romali" for instance is turbo-folk right?

So if I get it right turbo-folk must be uptempo? But then again there are midtempo turbo-folk songs aswell right? Like many Ceca songs.

Oh I'm confused haha.

Re: SERBIA 2012

Well, "Romale, romali" would be more pop-folk. That is not really turbo-folk. Then you also have ethno-pop, which is also a bit different than the other two. I think it is the feel of the song and more about the instrumental part that really dictates what is what.

I like this one a lot!

Re: SERBIA 2012

Turbo-folk is combination of serbian pop-folk music (created by Lepa Brena in 80's) and turkish/arabic folk music. Ana Nikolić is pop folk singer (for example you can compare Ana's "Mišo moj" and this "masterpiece" by Stoja lol and you can see difference).

Pop-folk, turbo-folk and ethno-pop?? lol

Let's add "folklore-pop" and "cultural-pop" in the mix to make it even more confusing

As with genres there's always lots of sub-genres and I guess no clear line really.

The only thing I know is that Turbo-folk is the ex-yugo version of Chalga

I don't think one can draw such an obvious line though, some of Ana's songs are turbo-folk aswell right? And some or not. "Romale Romali" is a border-case.

The same with Jelena and others. Jelena definitely started out as a turbo-folk singer atleast.

Oh I'm confused, when I hear it I can tell but then you guys say differently

Re: SERBIA 2012

I'm glad RTS confirmed participation. But it wouldn't be big surprise if they withdrawn either. ;)

So, Nataša Bekvalac released a new song 'Ja sam dobro' (I am fine)
I found only this in YT (I hate this male voice speaking smth in the radio during the song, but...), there will be official video soon with better sound.
Until then...let's hear the song...
I like it, but don't love it. Tbh, I imagined she'll record smth much much worse then this, knowing her 'mental situation' and all...:? :D
