I didn't read any Serbian forums or websites maybe it was different there, but it's hard to believe that. Anyway it's a good day today :D

I think you should also add Portugal to the list of those who must come to their senses  In Portuguese thread there is an interview where Filipa is considering chorus in English.

Really!? I did not know this!! And what did they/she decide?? That's also one of those songs where English would be just out of place.

He said that during song presentation in studio, there were delegations from 15 broadcasters (foreigners) and after the show, he asked for their opinion on both versions. Allegedly, delegations gave divided advices....about half ppl told him to go in English, and around half told - Serbian. He said it was 50:50, but eventually he decided to sing Serbian version...because "Marija (Serifovic) sung and won in Serbian and it's our tradition after all". - I'm glad he used word 'tradition' cause I'd like it to stay that way, our singers usually suck with Eng.or they produce bad Eng.lyrics.
He said he's comfortable with singing English as well - which I don't believe. lol:p
He also said few words about Baku performance - "it will not cost much, it will not be pretentious" - his words. Also was talking smth about 'hot potato' after Lane, Oro, Lejla...blah blah.
He wants a "simple" performance/presentation in Baku and there won't be any promo tours before the ESC. Basically that's all what I've read at Serbian News Agency (Tanjug) about this press conference.

Big applaud to Serbia (and Zeljko) for sticking to tradition and for going with native language to ESC.

The ONLY country that has stuck 100% to its own language since debut!!!

I hope more countries will follow in Serbia's footsteps, ESC needs this mindset desperately to survive as a concept!!

Oh Zeljko, Zeljko, as if you ever had a "complicated" performance :p
Your songs are quite enough to grab people attention and you know that very well, you sly cookie))

Oh, c'mon...u overreact;)
ESC will survive with or without native languages, what's killing the ESC is luck of quality, more and more cheesy pop year after year, or perhaps talent show entrants (Lena excluded) instead of established artists, I'd also add general jury fright and diaspora/neighbour voting patterns.
I really don't mind a good proper English song if full package is done good (accent, song, lyrics, style of song).
And Serbia isn't the only who sing in native language, isn't the UK who sing in their native language every year?:D hehhe

Yeah, I think language can be put above. Now it's official I guess. There won't be other confirmation after RTS press conference.

No, this is EUROvision not ANGLOvision. If all songs will be in English, surely it'll be facto become the "death" of EUROvision imo. If people want songs in English only, they can just turn on their random Pop radio channel or MTV.

However, obviously I want quality music aswell! This is another issue in ESC, but it doesn't mean the other (languages) isn't important aswell.

And obviously I mean out of countries where English is not the native language ;)

Isn't it kinda obvious that what people write in here are indeed opinions? (well when it comes to subjective matters that is) ?

Anyways, we won a battle today but not the war

It was meant as a joke? Everyone knows by now how passionate I am about the use of native languages in ESC and this was a "win".

Oh well, I'm weird I know

U're not weird, I admire your persistence xkiss
