Only the fact that the participation of Russia will keep getting strong reactions and it will darken the contest this year should be enough for EBU to suspend their participation.
I know Russia is clever enough not to break the rules of the contest but its a contest that was supposedly built on hope and love for Europe.
It will be hypocritical to hear slogans like we come together and music unites us all when a country that is starting an uprovoked war in Europe in freaking 2022 is being given a huge platform like this.

There would be also a sweet satisfaction if they actually perform and all we could hear in the live transmission are boo's from the audience. 🤣

I just love how Americans are still able to make this tragedy all about themselves ... imagine having your head so deep in your own butt to think "People in Ukraine are crying out for a strong President Trump" - yea, that`s what I`ve read on Twitter.

After today's events i'm not as willing to defend Russia as much as i defended Belarus last year tbh...:(

But lots of things can change in the coming days and weeks. I still have hope that things will settle down soon. I'm not a fan of doing anything drastic. Basically what i mean is that russian withdrawal should be the last resort and not the first thing on the menu.

I hope Ukraine takes part as well.

Next russian representative (regardless if it's this year or next year) doesn't deseve to booed.!!! They are as innocent in this shit as much as you and me.
I would say you must be joking, but sure, I too used to think like that. Not anymore. And no, there isn't anything at all that could change until May.

Russian politicians, amongst other things, are now directly responsible for bringing us the closest to World War III since at least 30 years.

Unless Putin gets judged by an international tribunal and subsequently executed, Russia apologises and pays Ukraine back for everything... No "change" in the next 3 months matters. And we both know that that is not going to happen.

Prominent Russians risk their career and well being:

Maxim Galkin, state television presenter and comedian, wrote on Instagram: "There can be no justification for war, I say no to war!"

Kseniya Sobchak, a prominent TV presenter, was banned from appearing on state-sponsored programs for years because of her participation in anti-government protests. She also sharply criticized the invasion: "We Russians will have to deal with what happened today for many years to come," Sobchak said in an Instagram post.

Yelena Kovalskaya, previously head of Moscow's Meyerhold Center, said she had resigned from her post. In a statement, she said: "It is not possible to work for a murderer and receive a salary from him."

Well ... he probably doesn't want to be killed? And doesn't plan to flee his country with his apparently already traumatized son.
It's not a cakewalk living in a country like that in a situation like this.

No, but a general statement about war being a bad thing could just as well be a pro-Putin as an anti-Putin statement.

It's sad to say this but it's really hard to know what to make of statements coming from Russians these days because the communication is in one way of the other state-controlled.

Imagine if that orange dimwit was still president right now... God I don't want to think about it.

Speaking as a libertarian minded person but non-libertarian there we wouldn't be a war right now if he was still in office for several reasons. Not getting into that here though. Just remember nobody does propaganda like US, Russia and China.

This situation is indeed so extreme that i'm willing to discuss russia's ban and it's still not enough for yall?
I'm sorry, i just don't want things to escalate.. i like the "empty words" of EBU because that's what i would do if i was in charge... xshrug

Btw i don't support capital punishment regardless of how much of a dick Putin is right now. I'm more of a lifetime jail type of guy.

I just asked my grandpa (who had to flee from the Red Army after WWII as the oldest of 13 children … at the age of like 10) if he would have ever though that he has to witness another war breaking out in Europe. He just shacked his head and said: „I had hoped it wouldn’t happen but … people always make the same mistakes“

I knew it a month ago due to my experience with Yugoslav war in the 90's. The whole situation with Ukraine has been unfolding by the same playbook the Milosevic's regime had written and performed from 89' to 91'.

I remember traveling by train as a child in early 1990 in northern Bosnia and seeing Yugoslav National Army tanks wandering around wheat fields. In that moment the whole family realised that tanks do not wander around wheat fields near the federal border with no purpose and that the Army is preparing us some bloody script.
