I think EBU won't do anything, because this is not different to what happened between Armenia and Azerbaijan and it is not different on what is happening between Israel and Palestine.

What are we even talking about, ban those bastards from the contest ASAP.
By bastards I mean the officials: their tv and all those who work for Putin. Not the ordinary, innocent Russians.

What is happening right now CANNOT BE COMPARED to Armenia/Azerbaijan´s conflict!

Aliyev has never neglected Armenia the right from existing - military conflicts or campaigns have NEVER resulted into invading larger cities or the capitals of Armenia or Azerbaijan which are miles apart from oppressed/annexed/disputed regions.

Thus, the EBU has to face a completely different scenario and find a way to react to that.

Please don't compare this to Israel / Palestine, it's not a similar scenario and Palestine is not an active ESC country, let alone fully internationally recognized even.

But yes, you're right that EBU probably won't do anything.

And this is true. But war is war, no matter where it is. There is no right war in my opinion. So you ban everyone or you don't ban anyone, it's up to EBU to decide (Personally, I will ban any country which is involved in an attack of another country... If they say politics shouldn't enter Eurovision, what's more political than a war?)

I mean this is literally the same country that detained its citizens for voting for Armenia in Eurovision theres no way that Azerbaijan should be allowed to compete either

Does Putin and his regime even care whether they perform in Eurovision or not though?…

I was asking myself the same thing - last year, the choice of manizha was criticized a lot by russians themselves, so i was thinking that maybe the broadcaster and the government are not really related in the choices for eurovision, in opposite of the image we have of Russia in eurovision usually.

But now, the situation is extreme, i think the government will take a look at it if they participate.

EBU told SVT in a very recent letter that they will not ban Russia from taking part in ESC this year

I´m very hesitant when it comes to ban countries at the ESC but :ru: has gone not one but at least a hundred steps too far now and clearly gives a shit about the idea of Eurovision and should absolutely banned this year!!

My thoughts and prayers are with the people of :ua:. xpray

What if Ukraine doesn't exist in May anymore. The statement of the EBU isn't well thought through.

At this rate Ukraine won`t be the only country that doesn`t exist anymore in May. I`m so fucking fed up right now. Someones gotta take out Putin and his inner circle asap - there I said it. Feel free to ban me for this.

Austrian Chancellor Nehammer reported on a phone call he had today with the Ukrainian President.
The Ukrainian President does not know how long Ukraine will exist and how long he will live.
