Ukraine just handed over the trophy to Russia by pulling out of the contest.
Considering the entries chosen so far, the remaining contenders from NFs, and other countries who havent announced yet, Russia is VERY LIKELY to win it all, without having to put on too much effort.
They can win this time with a song much weaker than the one in 2016.

May Rossiya 1 can make space for MARUV to join in a duo with Sergey as well? Could be fair for her, cause Sergey was his teacher during the voice season and she had contacts with Roissiya 1 magnement as well.

Well, 19/41 songs have been announced so far. (including Cyprus) None of them scream WINNER.
don't have absolute winners in their NFs, you might argue Hatari and Conan could win but you know they are likely to flop with the jury.
That leaves us with 14 countries:
(Not quite a lineup of most successful countries, eh?)
None of us is saying that it's already decided and we're buying our tickets to Moscow for 2020.
But considering the entries revealed and usual success rate of the remaining countries, and also the fact that Ukraine won't split ex Soviet votes,
Russia seems very VERY likely to win.
Still anything could happen and we could be going to Serhat's backyard next year (
) or Switzerland might send a last-minute BOP and blow our wigs all the way to Zürich. I'm not ruling out any possibilites until we hear all the songs, but the odds seem very very high for Russia at the moment

I mean I personally dont have anything against a win for Russia, but
1. the song has to be good and a bop, no ballad thx.
2. dont overdo the stage show
3. Nothing dated, I want something modern. 2016 it was just awfully dated.
My issue is that if Sergey serves us something stellar, first of all everyones gonna be hyped and overhype him. And then I hate it just like 2012 when there is an obvious winner. All the excitement fades. Its always a tad sad tbh.

There are still plenty of countries that could have very strong entries, plus with the NFs, I think Sweden could have a winner in John Lundvik, Australia is a dark horse, along with Estonia and possibly Italy. With Armenia, Austria, Netherlands, Azerbaijan etc to come, plus the wildcard of Ireland, nothing is even close to being decided yet.

No offense but since ESC became mainstream in Western Europe and many Western European/Westernized countries have won it, the contest has become so bland and boring. Biggest Eastern European country winning would be hopeful
It lost it's fun/ethnic side a lot and everyone tries to be Sweden nowadays

How Eurovision will be benefited if Russia wins? Maybe they are able to do a better host of course but i don't see any other reason that Russia has to win anyway! But if they have the best song of course they should win!

Why? Ukraine gave Russia more points than most. It used to be the most until recently when the juries penalized Russia but the public (Russian diaspora) still gave 12.

I hope he overdoes the stage performance again. The second chorus part of his performance amazed me for a long time. Another hard worked one would please me better. Considering this year is full of rather forgettable songs, Sergey has a greater chance to get votes he seeks with the right song and an outstanding performance.
