I don't get the "too much happening" present in some reports. Yes, there's a lot of stuff but they seem to be in the right order and they make kind of sense. It's looking simply amazing, as it had already looked before. What a show.

It's just projections on a flexible screen with stairs behind it. Is that really all it takes to win Eurovision? I suppose it will surprise first-time viewers who haven't seen how the effect works but Russia winning would seem more likely to me if Sweden had won the televote last year. They added stairs and made the graphics more elaborate than the graphics used for Heroes but that's it. I really don't think the juries will go for the same trick two years in a row. It will certainly do very good and might even win but it's not a sure winner at all. I wouldn't be surprised if the juries in many countries ranked it down to make up for expected good televote results that are based on the gimmick instead of being based on the song.

I don't think the song is as bad as people make it. It is, for one thing, much better than Russia's tacky effort last which got so much applause and a 2nd place finish. IMO, of course. Also, I don't care if it is "just" this or "just" that, the effect is quite extraordinary. One doesn't know how the trick is done when watching an illusionist´s show but still appreciates the illusion and the "magic" of the finished product. The fact that in this case you know how the trick is done shouldn't detract from the effect, I find.

That being said, I'd rather have another winner, for several reasons and several other songs, but what I can't really understand is all the hate towards this xshrug

It represents Russia.

Even if Russia sent an act containing rainbows, homosexual kiss and tearing down Putin's picture, the same people will still call Russia homophobic and all the typical mantras and crap nobody gives a fuck about.

In a recent interview Sergey said that he expects lots of political provocations and that it wont affect him.

If another country had sent this, it still wouldn't be a good winner. If a country like Austria or Slovenia had sent this, it would be called a cheap copycat and it wouldn't be treated as a favorite to win, imo.

When will you finally get that some people just hate the song? This has nothing to do with Russia at all. I don't give a fuck about the country it represents tbh - I would equally hate this song if it would represent any other country on this planet. By your logic I'm ought to hate every Russian entry ever ... when actually Russia was in my Top 10 at least 4 times in the last 7 years. I'm getting slightly annoyed by you (and of many others) playing the victim card over and over again.
The "hate" as you call it is only natural and it happens to most of the favorites every year. It's not a "Russia-only-privilege" - a lot of people were pretty damn nasty towards Mans and Sweden last year as well.

If Austria sent this all of ESC fans would be calling it "inovative", let's be real. Just like they overpraised Conchita Wurst which is anything but "original". Azis has been doing that image for years way before Conchita.

Or maybe, just maybe, some people dislike the song. Strongly.

It's not that hard of a concept to grasp. There is no need to go looking for stupid excuses about why people don't fantard about the same songs we do.

The thing is not that they dislike the song. The thing is that they constantly repeat it so we can get the illusion that A LOT of the people dislike the song. I counted only 10 haters on youtube and 3-4 haters here who spam with the same stuff all over again. It gets boring eventually. I dislike the Icelandic song and I think it's overrated. You don't see me constantly fighting with the people who overpraise Greta Salome in the Icelandic thread, do you. I also dislike the song from the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia but you don't see me talking crap about it in the thread about the song from the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, do you?

Sergey will win.

So basically, you're being bitter at people expressing their opinions and you want to make a childish, fanboyish stand against that. Gotcha.

Nothing wrong with that, it's your right after all, you just look a bit silly.

All this hypocritical yadda yadda about Russia/Ukraine makes me more and more root for France. I'm not an Amir uber, but the song is quite good and France has waited long enough for their next win. Just don't give it to Russia or the Ukraine, it's better for Europe.

It seems some people really want to share their opinion about YATOO, even in Ukrainian and Icelandic threads. So nikolay_BG is quite right.

BTW, hello to everyone xwave

Expressing it is OK. But trying to convince me and to make fun of me because my opinion is different is NOT OK.

Spamming with the same hatred again and again is not OK too.

I have a feeling that people constantly talk how bad the song is. Even in other threads people spread their hatred about the song. That behavior is unacceptable. This is not escforums.

Are you really surprised that people are making fun of you though? Some of the things you're saying may not be all that wrong BUT at the same time you are actually doing all the things you accuse others of yourself. (e.g. you're making fun of people with different opinions and you're being xenophobic towards Western Europeans by saying we're all hateful and stuff like that) That's just laughable - You should really mind your own business :geek:
There is a quite fitting German saying:
"Wer im Glashaus sitzt, soll nicht mit Steinen werfen"

Wow. There is only 10 haters of this song on Youtube. Bulgarian boy counted them all. Poll on ESCunited must be rigged.

His potential victory will have the same huge impact like Dima Bilan's one. I mean 0-impact. Bilan had the same pressure to show how perfect he is, he had the ice on the stage and... okay, he won. Does anybody remember that song? Nope. Was it a hit? No.

And just to preempt a charge - I do not hate Russia on Eurovision, to be honest Russia was the reason that I met this show (t.A.T.u. in 2003) and I think that this country has a lot of really great performances in their history including Tatu, Serebro, Babushki or Polina Gagarina. But this year song? Meh.

Hmm, not sure about his voice this time round; didn't feel quite right, but it's tricky to put my finger on quite why! However, I must say that I think that his staging is really excellent with the climbing up the screen. Something special and really makes it stand out for me. :)

Don't you think it's hypocritical that you're bashing people who create "the illusion that A LOT of people this dislike the song," when you yourself are saying things like: "I counted only 10 haters on youtube" (aka creating the illusion that this song is more loved that it actually is)? xshrug
