Yes, always the same and similar things about language of entries you write! :lol : :D

Petition is in the UK thread! :D

Atleast I'm writing something constructive (imo) xshrug

The same can be said by all those constantly wishing for English and hating on anything else xshrug

Well, many times (like this time) I don't write it just out of thing air, often I comment other peoples' comments (like I did this time).

I dunno, maybe ask Matt or some other mod?

SURE!!!
Every country may sing on their language!
But English culture has taken attention of most of people on the earth.
It confirms Prihodko's song. She sang on Russian and all is happened.

I'll try a translation (correct me if I'm wrong): ...10 January we will be able (we will have the opportunity) to listen to her new ... song "Sometimes"

And point being? This is EUROvision not ANGLOvision... Russia ended up within the top. 10 in 2009, it was the Europhobic juries that scr*wed their BEST entry to date over. I can't even think of how out of place that song would sound in English, totally off.

And as far as your comment goes, it's a actually more of proof that English obviously has NOT "taken attention of most of people on the earth"... no offense... but if one should argue for a supposed mythical global understanding of English, it should be done in a somewhat proper English atleast.

I love "Mamo" and it should have done better! Although the performance was fantastic I was hoping she would repeat her meltdown at the end of the song like she did at the national final , it added a lot to the emotion and drama of the song. I thought it was funny cause they wanted to win so bad and when they finally did they had a Ukrainian represent them on home soil .

It's not just Russia singing in Russian the jury dislikes, it Russia in general. Their the big war horse of Eastern Europe and there is a strong dislike for them (and that was before the anti-gay legislation) in the West. There are some who just refuse to vote for them no matter what. 10th was the best result they have ever had with the jury and that was their most jury begging entry with very solid vocals xshrug.

If Russia ever wins again (and it will be a struggle) it will be because they crushed everyone in the televote (2012 style where they demolished everyone but Sweden) and overcame the jury that hates them. Unless the song is seriously out of this world even the big names in the Russian industry would probably do no better then bottom top 10 with them. The EBU just don't want Russia winning again and will only allow it with big hesitation. If they had to give it to a East country again it will be Ukraine or even Azerbaijan.

They will probably NEVER win the jury and if they do it will be the biggest miracle/shock in Eurovision history. For instance I don't think Russia would have won if they had entered "Only Teardrops" and their result would probably still have been 5th and we would be going to Baku again. They wouldn't win with "Satellite" either and most definitely not with "Running Scared." A jury wouldn't place them on top like they did with Denmark, Germany or 2nd like Azerbaijan.

I think their best chance with a jury this year (singers that we know entered so far) is the Alexandrov Ensemble simply because they are too well known and world famous, the jury CANNOT flop them. Even if the song was mediocre the EBU would make the jury give them good marks because it would reflect badly on them to flop such an act that many respect and think highly of. Their basically a more serious and respected Babushki, at worst their another guaranteed top 5 xshrug.

In any case I think that the brightest candidate is Svetlana Surganova. She is gourgeous. She looks like Ellen DeGeneres :)

Re: RUSSIA 2014

No country should sing in english just to get more attention.
Prikhodko didn't have any chance of winning whatsoever, she is anti-charismatic.
In the end of the day an anti-charismatic singer can destroy even a brilliant entry.
The song was good but it wasn't a hit song and it surely wasn't brilliant.
Do you really think Loreen wouldn't win if her song was in swedish?
Emmelie wouldn't win if Only Teardrops was in danish?
Bollocks, they would win anyway, they had a whole package: pretty face, crazy charisma, hit song, vocals, moves, staging.
Just do what you do best, don't try to jump over your head and be sencere + have a hit material.
Language is of no importance.

^^^
I'm getting the feeling Prikhodko wasn't a very popular choice for you . I do seem to recall she was a pretty controversial choice though. I believed she entered at the very last minute after pulling out of the Ukrainian final (protesting about result fixing or something ) and then when she won the Russian final everyone claimed it was fixed for her xrofl

In more happy less controversial news however.....

There will be a Belorussian NF on 10th January. In interval-act Polina Smolova will sing her new song "Sometimes". She sent this song to Russian NF.
Polina Smolova represented Belorussia in 2006. She got penultimate place with song "Mum". It's the worst result from Belorussia.
