Re: РОССИЯ - Russia 2011

In 2009 the ex-soviet countries gave 63 points to mother Russia (the rest Europe-32 countries- gave all together 28 points!)
In 2010 the ex-soviet countries gave 68 points to Russia (the rest europe-29 countries gave all together only 22 points!)
So dont tell me that Europe liked Russian entries in 2009 & 2010.

2010 Russia was awful!!!!! I'm happy that my country gave only 3 points to them

Seriously though, a Greek is the last to say since Greece is one of the major diaspora votes gainers in Eurovision. There's alot of people agreeing that Greece doesn't deserve top.10 every year, but there's no use in pointing it out really.

Imo the Russian entries 2009-2010 were much more interesting than the Greek entries those years.

Well, I didn't mean to say that in a bad way, I'm just saying that some countries gets an unfair amount of criticism I think, wheres there are other examples of the exact same phenomena.

Considering that you used "mother Russia" remark, your prejudiced attitude is quite visible.

Was I saying that Europe liked it? NOBODY received all points from ALL European countries.
So you tell me that East European votes cost nothing?!
350 million people have no right to have their own taste?

Re: РОССИЯ - Russia 2011

Look this is off topic, and i apologise to everyone.
I know that even with 50-50 its not fair.
But
1)Greece is not like Russia with the 50-50 system, becouse Russia will get high score from neighbours juries, but Greece is not sure that gets high score from german,or belgium,or uk juries.
2)I know that its unfair becouse its not like running 100 metres, they dont start all countries from the same point.
3)When Greece had awful entries (like 2002,and 2003) even with 100% televote, got 17th place.I dont think that Helena, and Sakis (04),and Kalomira, got that places only from the diaspora.
4)To be clear:when greek/turkish/russian/oukrainan/armenian entries are ok they can easily get to top10.Thats my all point of view.

To be clear: when some entry is more prefered by Eastern (or Western, or Southern etc. ) Europe it doesn't mean that their votes are not or less valuable and they vote for countries. Prefering something from our common music market is not a crime and I'm not gonna agree with "Mother Russia" remark because it's degrading and offensive for me.

^ ok ok, I'm sorry if I sounded too rude as well :*).
At some point I agree with you.
During the last 2 years Russia used to send entries which appeal to the East but not for the rest of Europe.
However I don't get why my mom (and the rest of people who voted for Nalitch) should be judged in such way. Yes, I liked Pryhod'ko. Yes, my mom voted for Nalitch. Apparently other entries didn't appeal enough for us, this is their problem, not ours xshrug

Re: РОССИЯ - Russia 2011

It's unbelievable how many people in the Western Europe have a negative connotation of Eastern Europe, and especially about Russia!
There is no negative comments about neighboring votes between Scandinavian countries, for many people in Europe that's OK, but it's not OK when ex soviet or ex yugoslavian countries doing the same thing!

In my opinion, Russians deserved they standings every year, cuz they send great songs from year to year! And Ukraine too!

He is not even from Western Europe lol (Greece is South-Eastern).

But yeah, I agree. Yes, obviously Russia get some help from Russian diaspora, but as pointed above they are not alone, but somehow some people make Russia look worse than others.

As for Scandinavia block voting, there IS a problem, but to be fair though Scandinavian countries doesn't always give eachother the highest points all the time, wheres countries like Turkey for instance always get the high points from countries with big Turkish diaspora (just to give some example).

I think diaspora voting is the biggest problem because it's quite often done because of pure nationalism and nothing else.

Re: РОССИЯ - Russia 2011

I really disagree with some points to Russia, but I know that people like Russian entries here, people like Russian music, we have common music markets (Like Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia etc)... when nobody manages to impress us we will choose something that stands closer to us.
People can say that they are talking about others, those who vote for something else than music... why Russia then? There are such people in any European country, you know.
I rarely vote for Russia but there are people who do not think like me.

2009 was quite typical slavic entry. It would be weird for us do not vote for that song  2010 - according to my own "research" (lol) and knowledge it was voted mainly by 20+ people (it had some retro tunes, it was an obvious hint for 80's and 70's in Soviet music), I must admit that he surprised me too on the final night ... it was ridiculous (gosh, tell me about it) but in the same time it was honest.

As for 2011 entry. Something tells me that ORT will send another entry which appeals to us
Tishman? Not gonna vote for him cuz I'm not a fond of his ballads.
Vaenga? God forbids!!! o______0
Someone new? I don't mind.

Quite famous Russian (Cypriot-born) singer Avraam Russo said that he wants to participate in the NF.
You can listen to 2 songs here: http://www.mk.ru/social/article/2011/02/02/562753-avraam-russo-hochet-na-evrosong.html
Hmmm, the 1st one is so-so the 2nd one is horrible. Wondering if it's just a demo.
Not the winner, but he can qualify to the NF without a doubt.

Re: РОССИЯ - Russia 2011

Well, there are a lot of Russians leaving in the ex-soviet countries. And they would vote for pretty much nobody else, except Russia. For instance not many Estonians would vote for Russia, but rather the Russians that live there. On the other hand, Ukraine and Belarus must have good songs in order to be voted and do well. When they don't have good songs, they are not voted. And the irony is why Russia and not others, right? Anyway, thats life.

The exact same thing can be applied on Turkey, Greece, Bosnia, Serbia, Armenia.. it's called diaspora votes and it's a problem for the whole contest, but clearly not only Russia are getting help by these type of votes.

Re: РОССИЯ - Russia 2011

@aletem. My mom is Russian, and she voted for such entries like United Kingdom and Portugal.
I know Ukrainians who vote for Russian entries (I voted for Russia too).

Diaspora "argument" is meeeeeh! Our diaspora doesn't vote for us so much when we have a song which doesn't fit them, I don't think that Russian diaspora is more different.
+ they don't need diaspora. We can turn on the I-net and listen to Russian music, we can turn on the TV and Russian performers are there etc.

ps. Btw. If Avraam Russo will be chosen we are gonna vote for him. He has a lot of fans here and he tours ex-USSR.
Just like Dino Merlin will be voted by the whole ex-Yugo peeps xshrug
I don't see a problem.

Agree on that 100%

BTW speaking for russian diaspora, my mother is russian, but she voted for Russia only once and that was in 2006 ( in that year I voted for Greece :D )
I think diasporas vote for their countries when the songs are good.
Of course there are exceptions and for me this exceotions are the turkish and the armenian diaspora, but that`s another topic :)

As for the westerners that always complaign on block voting - send better songs :) Jade Ewen is a good example of honest voting. She got 7 points from Bulgaria (who is traditinally not a very big UK voter). Patricia Kaas is also a good example. Lena also. Now UK will send Blue.
I think that eastern countries took ESC very seriously and their songs are better in the last decade. And also eastern songs appeal more to eastern people.
